While the 110cc automatic scooter segment has already been established in Indian, the 125cc scooter category is one of the fastest growing segment. That's the reason, the NTorq gets competition from a host of options like the Honda Grazia, Suzuki Burgman Street and the Aprilia SR 125.
If someone wants to buy a true sporty looking scooter in the 125cc segment, the TVS NTorq 125 fits well in the criteria. The scooter gets a stealth aircraft-inspired styling which results in a very sharp and edgy bodywork. The aerodynamically designed model gets a very inclined front fascia which appeals the moto scooter fans. It gets a motorcycle like an edgy headlamp on the front apron which comes in a dual-tone finish. The dual-tone scheme has been complemented by the handlebar visor and the front mudguard as well. Its sleek turn indicators are mounted on the handlebar visor which gives the scooter a very sporty feel.
The TVS NTorq 125 gets a sharp tail section with interesting signature T-shaped LED tail lamp and motorcycle-like split grab rails. It also has afterburner style dummy vents near the tail lamp which, along with the lower body of the scooter, gets a carbon fibre like finish which gives it a very sporty feel. The NTorq comes in sporty dual colour options – matte yellow, matte green, matte white, matte red, metallic blue, metallic grey and metallic red – blended with black. The seat also gets a dual-tone texture along with red stitching. The scooter comes with a stubby exhaust and attractive 12-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
Powering the TVS NTorq 125 is 124.8cc, single cylinder, forced air-cooled engine which comes mated to a constantly variable transmission (CVT) gearbox. It is a three-valve motor and churns out 9.4PS of power at 7,500rpm, and 10.5Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. A larger air-intake and exhaust system of the BS-IV compliant engine makes it sound very sporty with a grunt. The company claims that the scooter s capable of doing a 0-60kmph sprint in 9 seconds and it has a top speed of 95kmph.
The TVS NTorq 125 runs on 12-inch wheels, shod with 100/80 section front and 110/80 section rear tubeless tyre. The braking duties are handled by 220mm petal disc brake at the front and a 130mm internal expanding type drum brake at the rear. The brakes synchronise well with the front telescopic forks and rear spring-loaded gas-charged suspension, providing the rider with excellent control on the scooter. The underbone type chassis of the scooter provides great rigidity, making it easy to manoeuvre in various riding conditions. Also, the 155mm of ground clearance is pretty decent to save the bottom from speed breakers and potholes.
The batwing style daytime running light (DRL) of the TVS NTorq 125 makes it visible all the time and the front disc brake helps in emergency stopping situations. Besides that, larger tubeless tyres offer a trouble-free ride and it also gives a high-speed alert. The scooter comes with pass-switch and engine kill switch as well.
The NTorq 125 comes with a gaming console inspired fully digital instrument cluster which offers additional features like lap timer, 0-60 recorder and three trip meters along with an F trip for reserve. The LCD screen offers multi-mode display (Street, Sport and Ride Stats) with a total of 55 features and it can be connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth using a dedicated app. With this new technology, it offers incoming call alert, missed call alert, SMS alert and navigation assist among the other features. It also enhances the security of the scooter with the last parking location assist and a complete ride report generation. Other key features of the TVS NTorq include a dual side handle lock, 22-litre of under-seat storage with lamp and USB charging port.
