Here is what our experts feel about Pleasure
The Pleasure is one of the oldest automatic scooters manufactured by Hero Honda (Now HeroMoto Corp) in India since 2006. Hero Honda was traditionally a motorcycle company back then. But they decided to manufacture their first scooter, the Pleasure. And when it was launched, it was received by the market very well. So well it sold that during 2013, it was second only to the Honda Activa in this rapidly growing scooter segment. The Pleasure is specifically targeted towards women and was branded with the tagline "Why should boys have all the fun?". With this tagline, Pleasure carved a niche for itself and rapidly captured almost 17% of the scooter market in a very short time. Also, this unique level of marketing polarized the entire scooter market, with others starting to offer either specifically male or female. The tagline created by the team at FCB-Ulka is so good that Hero is using it again, now with their brand ambassador for Pleasure and a famous Bollywood actress, Alia Bhatt. Now the new 10th Anniversary model comes with unique badging, elegant graphics and a mobile charging socket as well. The likes of Scooty Pep, Activa i, Suzuki Lets are the main competitors of this scooter. Hero Pleasure now comes in two variants: standard variant available at Rs. 44,900 and the one with alloy wheels is priced at Rs. 46,900 (Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
Hero Pleasure is designed and styled to appeal more to female customers. Hence you will see a lot of feminine touches given to this scooter. The most striking is the beautiful new graphic designs adorning from front to back. They are not loud but appear very subtle and elegant. Along with the beautiful designs, the front apron of the scooter dons a “10th Anniversary” badge, to show the fact that this scooter has been successfully been running for more than 10 years. Also on the front, we now have a clear lens headlamp which has the AHO feature. On the rear, we don't get a LED tail lamp, but the one here is good and has a nice pattern when lit up. It is flanked now by clear lens turn indicators instead of the previous amber ones. Grab handles now get a matt black finish which gives it a premium feel. The seat on this scooter is broad, long and very comfortable. Storage space is ample on this scooter as this has 2 compartments. The main one is under the seat has enough space for a half helmet and also comes with a boot light. Another compartment is below the handle which can be used to carry small things like a water bottle and has a charging socket as well. Instrument console now receives a refreshed look and houses the speedometer, odometer and the fuel gauge. It also has an indicator which lights up if the side stand is open while the bike is switched on.
Powering this scooter from Hero is a 102cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder engine. This engine produces max power 6.9bhp at 7000rpm and a peak torque of 8.1Nm at 5000rpm. Mated to an automatic transmission, this scooter provides smooth acceleration. Pickup is good though not that great. But there are some thoughtful bits like the easy access to tune your carburetor, located inside the under-seat boot. By using this flap, the can be easily tuned without removing the whole body. The maximum speed of this nimble scooter is at a measly 77kmph and an amazing fuel efficiency of 63kmpl. This scooter comes with a fuel tank capacity of 5 litres.
Being a 100cc scooter, the performance of Hero Pleasure is not great but it is good enough for day to day usage. Also, It being a very lightweight scooter is very easy to maneuver around city traffic. Suspension of this scooter is handled by the bottom link with spring-loaded hydraulic damper at the front and a rear swing arm with spring-loaded hydraulic damper. The suspension is basic and works well in city conditions. Braking duties are taken care of by 130mm drum units on both the ends and perform decently. These brakes also come with Integrated Braking System (IBS), which automatically activates the rear brake when the front brake is pressed. Now the Hero Pleasure comes with stylish alloy wheels which are all-black. Wheels are covered now with tubeless tyres of section 90/100 x 10 - 53 J on both ends for a hassle-free ride. Tyres provide proper grip and are appropriate for a scooter of this size.
There are not many safety or features on the Hero Pleasure as it is a very basic scooter. But now as mandated by the government of India, all two-wheelers must have AHO feature in their headlight. So, this feature in the Pleasure adds some safety in terms of visibility of the scooter to the oncoming traffic. Brakes being drum units provide basic stopping power and safety with the inclusion of integrated braking system. There is also a mobile charging socket available in the front storage compartment under the handle. Now you can easily charge your smartphone or any other electronic device on the go.
