Flash Red - Volkswagen Polo
The new Polo is a very fine example of how to move forward and yet not lose yourself in the crowd. The car has been updated regularly to keep it in contention and improve its desirability.
The Polo now comes with a 1.2 litre petrol motor and 1.5 litre diesel. The 1.2 litre petrol motor pumps 75 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. It promises a fuel economy of 16.47 km/l. The 1.5 litre diesel engine is a brand new motor developed by VW. It has a peak power output of 90 PS and torque of 230 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and ARAI tested mileage is at 20.14 km/l.
The Cross Polo is offered as a 'tougher' looking variant of the standard car and is powered by the same engines.
The Polo GT twins, the GT TSI and GT TDI represent the performance side of the range. Powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor, the GT TSI also features the critically-acclaimed 7-speed dual-clutch transmission from the VW group. It has a maximum power output of 105PS with a maximum troque figure of 175Nm, coupled to the DSG-box the GT TSI is right now the best hot-hatch anyone can buy in the country without breaking the bank. The GT TDI, powered by the 1.5-litre diesel motor developing 105PS/250Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission offers a good mix of power, efficiency and handling.
The Interior of the Polo is simple and rich. Quality if very good and the ends are neat and well-sculpted. The feature list is rich and the cabin feels very classy. The voice command feature is very useful. Features like the cooled glovebox also add to the premiumness of the cabin.
The quality of the cabin is best in the segment.

The 1.2 MPI motor is not enthusiastic, the 1.5 TDI motor is powerful and efficienct. The 1.2 TSI motor and 1.5 TDI motor on the GT models are a revelation. The 1.2 TSI motor and 7speed DSG combo make the Polo GT TSI a scorching performer.
1.2 TSI motor and 7-speed DSG combo on the GT TSI cannot be matched
1.2 MPI motor is unenthusiastic

VW after-sales are on the steep side especially the workshop costs.
Diesel Polo is quite fuel efficient.
It is difficult to get a good efficiency figure in the GT TSI. Maintenance costs are on the higher side

VW Polo handles very well and is very confident at all speeds. Airbags are standard across the range
Airbags are standard across the range
Soft suspension not the best for the powerful GT variants
The Volkswagen Polo handles well, but the body-roll is noticeable
The Volkswagen Polo has very good brakes
The Volkswagen Polo is equipped with dual-airbags as standard, ABS is available on most variants, the GT TSI gets ESP too
The Volkswagen Polo is equipped with ABS on all variants except the Trandline
The Volkswagen Polo GT TSI is the only variant to be offered with traction control
The Volkswagen Polo, take any variant, has one of the best ride-and-handling characteristics amongst its competition. It is a suspension setup that is pliant enough to smother bad roads, while also being stiff to take croners at blistering speeds. The electronic power steering and the softer suspension do dull the driving charactristics of the GT twins though.
Good ride quality
EPS and soft suspension dull driving experience of the GT TSi and GT TDI
The Volkswagen Polo is a very comfortable car
The Volkswagen Polo is fitted with McPherson strut with stabiliser bar at the front
The Volkswagen Polo gets a semi-independent trailing arm suspension setup at the rear

2017 Volkswagen Polo Rendered Volkswagen launched the Polo in India back in 2010 and during its life, the car has routinely received minor updates that have helped it stay fresh and relevant. The last major update came in the form of a heart transplant for the diesel variants. What used to be powered by a 3-pot, 1.2-litre oil burner was replaced...

Pros Great looks, good build quality, roomy
Cons poor engine pickup, noisy cabin, outdated engine, too costly
Infact I had lot of hopes on having a vw polo when I came to know about its production in chakan plant. I used to follow very carefully about the developments & launching of polo in india. I also booked the vehicle in jan 2010. I first saw the vehicle in first week of March at our dealer place & was really impressed with the vehicle. After a few days our dealer invited me for a test drive polo 1.2 highline. On driving the vehicle I was utterly dissapointed about the performance of the engine, engine noise level is pretty high then sitting in a ordinary tata indica diesel vehicle. I feel that the germans think that we are still outdated & continue to use primitive engine like 3 cyclinders which are still used in maruthi 800. The passion to have vw is a hypocratic idea which the german auto maker is making use of it. When there are lot of other companies providing excellent features in terms of performance, safety, effecient, economical & latest tecnologies that are introduced in the world market simultaneaously, I felt that paying such a huge amount for that car is not worth to buy. Dear readers I request you to have a test drive & come out with your opinions in this matter

Pros Looks Good
Cons Very Bad Sales and After Sales Service(low mileage)
One thing which I would like all people to know about Volkswagen Company is that Volkswagen is the worst car company in whole of India in terms of sales and after sales service as I had booked a polo and my whole experience with Volkswagen is like a nightmare. To my surprise Volkswagen dealer never responds back to any customer complaint and even the parent company I send so many mails but no reply.I had booked a Polo in 1st week of March in Moti Nagar showroom and I was told delivery date within 2 months but more then 3 months have passed and they are not even able to tell me the exact staus. The most surprising part is that if you people will open Volkswagen India website you cannot even find their email id where u can write to them and u have to find out from here and there the email id.To know my experience all are free to call me at my number in New Delhi at 9899127872

Pros good looks, great mileage
Cons nothing as such
best car you can have in india, actually maruti's bad day has started in 5 lakh why buy a japanese car when one can buy german hah, i drive it as test drive, actually my friend is a auto analyst and we test drive it for 4 hours, i decided to book silver colour one trendline model petrol, i find the engine is a bit noisy , but that's actually a sign of powerful engine, even you can run a/c in first gear with no glitches like wagon r(presently having)and seats are more comfortable than swift, even i 20 so i truly appreciate the looks of this german car , after all germann are pioneers in car manufacturing and technology

Pros only looks and the VW logo
Cons Less leg room on rear, very low on mileage, poor back visibility
I bought Vw Polo last month as i was very excited. My excitement ended in the very second week, the car has very hard gear shift, bumpy rear seat, the leg room is very bad, the basic horns that come with the car are crap i had to get them retuned on the third day, they refused to replace them, i had to buy new ones my self. The steering wheel is quite tight and does't seem like one is driving a power steering. The worst part is the mileage. I have so far driver 9000+ and my Polo gives mere local average of 11km on diesel and on highway it goes up to 14 only. I spoke to the dealer in Karnal and they refuse to anything else than the free service. It was my worst decision to buy a Polo, now i want to sell it and buy either an i20 or the Maruti ritz. My VW charm has ended quite badly.

VW, in India, has remained an automaker for the elite class till 2010. But surely, they had different plans for the Indian market. Models like Jetta and Passat could not help them establish the brand among the middle class Indians, for whom the Swifts and i10s were obvious choices. They had to come up with a small car that offers extremely good value for money, not compromising a bit on the VW quality standards. The Polo. http://automate4u.wordpress.com/2010/10/29/vw-polo-test-driven-a-review/
