The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has always been the pioneer of the automobile, it is a technological and mechanical masterpiece that showcases the potential of what cars of the future can be. And the 2014 Mercedes-Benz W222 model has carried that baton of excellence forward for the S-Class.

The new S-Class is the only car in the world without a single light bulb, it uses LEDs instead from the headlamps to interior lighting where there are 300 LEDs alone. A well specced S-Class also comes with such things as 100 motors to support numerous bits of equipment including the reclining rear seats that are heated and cooled and feature massage function along with powered footrests. Other equipment includes a 24 speaker surround sound Burmester infotainment system, 10 airbags, DVD player, Wifi internet, folding tray tables, panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled cup holders, heated arm rests and an air balance package that ionises and perfumes the cabin. At the front the driver gets two 12.3 inch TFT screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system that gets Merc’s COMAND interface.

The W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class also comes packed to the teeth with safety features such as Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe, Brake with Active Pedestrian Protection, Active Lane-Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and BAS with Junction Assist, rear-end collision warning and Pre-Safe Plus protection system.

The car comes with Mercedes’ AirMATIC air suspension with Active Body Control that controls the amount of oil supplied to every strut to absorb imperfections in the road. The S-Class also gets Crosswind Assist that uses the car’s traction control system to reduce the effects of strong gusts of wind by course correcting brake actuations on the side of the vehicle facing the wind. Added to this, the LED headlights omit their beam from oncoming traffic to allow other road users to be undisturbed by the S-Class’ head light beam which illuminates the rest of the path.

Armed to the teeth with safety and convenience features, proven powertrain and cutting edge technology the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a definitive pioneer of automobiles.

Killing Machine

By ARAVINDAN D Posted on 21 Nov 11, 01:24 PM

Pros Killer car

Cons Life taker

On 12.11.2011, our brother, Nirmal Saraf, was driving a Mercedes S-class (claimed to be one of the most safest cars of the world), from Jaipur to Agra alone during the day. At about 12 oclock, he met with an accident. A truck moving parallel to his car, took a sudden turn due which he had to apply sudden brakes. Unfortunately he hit the truck from the drivers side. Due to the collision the rod, which holds the windscreen of the car broke and hit Nirmal near the shoulder, which caused him to loose control of the car. The car hit a few kiosks on the roadside. People nearby had to cut the seat belt and somehow managed to get him out of the car and an ambulance was called to take him to the hospital. But unfortunately the doctors couldnt save our brothers precious life. Even after such a big collision only one airbag opened of the Mercedes S-class and that too of the passengers side (left side) where as the car was hit on the drivers side. Mercedes claims that SAFETY is their utmost priority, and that they have provided 8 airbags in their S-class. Then why after such a big collision only one airbag opened and that too of left side where there was no major hit Is selling the car more important than ensuring the security of it We do not know what the S in the name S-Class stand for, but its definitely not SAFETY.

WORST CAR

By Prathap Posted on 13 Oct 13, 10:24 PM

Pros ,NOTHING

Cons ,EVERYTHING

BE AWARE OF LIFE THREATENING MERCEDES CARS WE PURCHASED A MERCEDES BENZ S500 L AS BRAND NEW ON APRIL 2010 AND TILL DATE THE THE CAR HAS VISITED THE WORKSHOP AT LEAST 30 TIMES . GRADUALLY MY DAD IS SPENDING ALL HIS HARD EARNED MONEY IN REPLACING ALMOST EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT IN THIS CAR . COUPIL OF DAYS BACK TO MY PARENTS SHOCK THE SUSPENSION BOOT GOT CUT AT THE SPEED OF 40 KMH AND A MESSAGE WAS GIVEN TO STOP THE VEHICLE . LUCKILY THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED A FEW HOURS BEFORE A LONG TRAVEL IN THE HIGHWAY . I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO OUR LIFES IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN A NATIONAL HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS . WE HAVEN'T FACED SO MANY ISSUES EVEN IN A MADE IN INDIA MAHINDRA CAR . THE GERMANS ARE CHEATING US WITH THEIR JUNK . PLZ DON'T BUY A MERCEDES CAR IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR AND YOUR FAMILIES . THE CAR HAD VISITED THE SERVICE STATION FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS. SENSOR FAILIURES - 3 TIMES REAR SUN BLIND MOTOR - 2 TIMES HEADLIGHT SOFTWARE FAILIURE - 1 TIME OIL SMELL FROM REAR VENTS - 2 TIMES BURNING SMELL FROM UNDER FLOOR MATS - 2 TIMES RATTLE FROM DOOR - 2 TIMES REAR SEAT VIBRATION - 1 TIME AND NOW FOR THE FRONT SUSPENSION BOOT . THE HAS SPENT MORE DAYS IN THE WORKSHOP THAN IN OUR HOUSE . WE HAVE DRIVEN SEVERAL CARS SUCH AS INNOVA , I-10 , ETIOS LIVA , COROLLA ALTIS , CAMRY , BMW X-5 , AUDI Q7 , ROLLS ROYCE GHOST , MERCEDES E240 AND E280 OVER THE PAST YEARS . BUT THEN ONLY THE MERCEDES CARS ARE GIVING SO MUCH TROUBLE . WE CAN'T RELY ON MERCEDES FOR SAFE CARS ANYMORE .

The S 600 Guard saved my life

By Vishal Agnihotri Posted on 01 Apr 16, 11:59 AM

Pros Great Looks,Good Performance,Great Interiors,Fuel Efficiency,Comfort,

Cons ,Nothing at all!

It may seem a bit too outrageous but I belong to a very influential family and am an industrialist. We get a lot of threats from our competitors and cannot afford to buy a car that is not well armoured. Looking out for a car like that, I had recently picked up a Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard. It is an armoured vehicle that cocoons you in a lap of luxury and comfort while keeping you safe. My recent trip to Jaat infested Haryana region proved to be a testimony for the car. Riots had broken out and I had to reach my home in Delhi. My driver, Ravidas, told the only way we get out is avoid highways and keep to back roads (My driver is a localite). And while we traversed over back roads which were pretty rough, riots trickled down there as well. Fearing for our lives, I told Ravidas to head back to the factory and find a safe spot to park the vehicle and bunk down there itself till the heat settled. But, Ravidas was pretty confident about the car. So, while speeding and avoiding a number of barricades, there were a number of country-made molotovs that were thrown at the car. At first, I thought, this is the end, but the vehicle's protective system immediately triggered and doused all the flames around the car. Some people also fired a few shots but the S600 Guard absorbed them without any problems. So, if someone wants a well-equipped and an extremely armoured car, the S 600 Guard is what I would recommend.

Value For Money Maybach

By Sachin Posted on 30 Sep 15, 11:15 AM

Pros Great Looks,Good Performance,Great Interiors,Comfort,

Cons Average Fuel Efficiency,

S600 Maybach is a Mansion on wheels that can do 0-100 kmph in less than 5 seconds. S-class has retained the tittle of 'World's Best Car' for a long time but, when you add the Maybach moniker to the car and load it with luxurious interiors, it can definitely challenge the Rolls Royce.

Decent option if your trouser pockets touch your shoes

By Ram Singh Posted on 01 Apr 16, 11:46 AM

Pros ,decent looks

Cons ,pricey for what it offers

The car is priced higher compared to the S 350, which is a great entry point into the luxury world. If I had to buy a car in this price range, it'd be for the badge value of the S-Class, which comes standard on the S 350 also. All of a sudden, S 350 starts to look like a deal.
