Best sedan from the maruti suzuki stable yet.......Awesome macho looks. Done 70,000 kms......Maintenance is very affordable compared to rivals like Verna or City. My family enjoys the extra wide space in cabin and the boot...Automatic climate control works wonders....As usual, maruti has let down with interiors, could have improved on that part. Amazingly fast, and u always feel like you Read More

Review of Maruti SX4

Overview

The new Maruti SX4 sedan is finally here and it has a host of improvements. The design has been changed and the result is that it looks fresh and more premium than before. The biggest change is the front which has a new bumper and grille. The muscular bumper looks good with a 2-tone front grille and fog lamp with dual-tone garnish adds to the looks. Elsewhere the looks pretty much remain the same and the side/rear view still have the muscular look. The SX4 has huge ground clearance and that adds to the presence. The manjority of the changes though are on the inside where the  new SX4 sports black and beige dual tone shades. The dashboard has black finish and beige fabric upholstery. The new interiors have a new black and marble finish prints, wooden finish armrests, chrome AC side louvers and chrome finish side handles. The new SX4 has many new optional features such as an all new touch-screen audio with integrated navigation with Bluetooth. This enables features like GPS, Music and messaging to be integrated on the screen. Space continues to be a asset to the SX4 though we wished some more changes could have done the cabin much better. The rear seats are big and allow for comfortable sitting with an airy feeling inside. The SX4 is powered by a 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine that delivers a maximum power of 104.7 PS at 5600 rpm and a peak torque of 145NM at 4100 rpm. Under the hood of the SX4 Diesel lies the high powered 1.3 litre Super Turbo DDiS diesel engine that returns power of 90PS @ 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 200NM @ 1750 rpm. Power is transmitted via five-speed gearbox that uses detent pin technology. The new SX4 is OBD-II compliant and meets the BS-IV standards. The fuel economy too is improved with a figure of 16.51 kmpl for the petrol and 21.79 kmpl for the diesel. There is a CNG variant too and its mileage is 22.1 km/kg for CNG. The prices for the new SX4 are unchanged over the earlier one and it is good value for money. Maruti SX4 petrol range price starts from, VXI: Rs 738115, VXI CNG: Rs 799974 and ZXI: Rs 824765. The new SX4 diesel has prices which start from VDI: Rs 827458 to ZDI: Rs 921669.
