The Ritz, inspite of being a well packaged car, wasnt really setting the sales charts on fire for Maruti. With increasing competition, the only way to make the Ritz a very successful hatchback was to induce new features and changes. Infact, Maruti went a step ahead and gave over 50 changes to the Ritz, the result of which you see on this page.
Most importantly, the new Ritz comes with the improved version of the FIAT sourced multi-jet unit that also serves the new Swift. This means, that although the max power and torque on paper remain the same, the new Ritz is 10% more efficient, taking its ARAI approved fuel economy figure to 23.2kmpl! As of September 2012, the new Ritz is only offered with a diesel heart and additionally, the company will now sell the Riz diesel in the top end ZDI version too.
Changes have been made externally with redesigned headlamps, bumper and fog lamps. At the rear though, things remain pretty much the same. On the inside, the overall design is same but changes come in the form of a new audio system, driver information display, dual tone interiors etc. Maruti also claims improved rear seat space and comfort.
New Breeze Blue
New Mystique Red
New Granite Grey
Known as the Suzuki Splash in the international market, Maruti launched this tall boy mid-sized hatchback in the Indian market in May 2009. In 2012 it has been given a face-lift with new features and design tweaks plus only a diesel is offered. The Ritz surely has a good road presence and the front end is dominated by a pair of big, vertically positioned headlamps and a new front design. Other changes include a signature front smiling grille embossed with Suzuki logo, new headlamp, rear spoiler. You get choice of three new colours- Mystique Red, Granite Grey & Breeze Blue. Being a tall boy offering, there is no dearth of headroom in the Ritz. Infact, the first thing that strikes you, before even sitting in the car, is the ease of getting in. The speedometer console in itself looks great, especially once it gets dark on the outside. While the front two passengers can end up being very comfortable, space at the rear can be tight if you have two tall people sitting on the front seats. Changes to the new Ritz include red dual tone interiors, multi-information display in Instrument Panel- including fuel efficiency, new Audio with USB, electrically adjustable ORVM and Day & Night IRVM. Like is the case with the Swift and Dzire, the Ritz also uses the same FIAT derived multi-jet unit that displaces 1248cc and puts out 75PS of power with 190Nm of torque. . It also has a respectable ARAI rated economy of 23.2kmpl. The NVH levels of the diesel version are good and the engine is pretty smooth and silent for a diesel unit. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is also a petrol engine which is also available with an automatic option. The mileage of the automatic is 17.6 kmpl. When it comes to suspension, the high seating position and a relatively light steering makes the Ritz easy to drive in traffic. It isn’t as agile as the Swift Low speed ride on the lower variants is good due to their tall tyre walls though on the ZXI, the undulations, especially sharp ones, are easily transmitted into the cabin. High speed stability is pretty impressive and the Ritz feels at home at triple digit highway speeds. The Maruti Ritz diesel has a starting price of Rs 5.3 lakh. A new variant is the fullyloaded ZDi which is priced at Rs 6.3 lakh ex-showrrom. Recently Maruti also added the Ritz automatic to the line-up which is only available with a petrol Ritz. and has a four speed automatic gearbox. The new Ritz is a sporty yet practical small car. For a detailed analysis read below.
Being a tall boy offering, there is no dearth of headroom in the Ritz. Infact, the first thing that strikes you, before even sitting in the car, is the ease of getting in. The seats aren’t placed low, Ergonomics are spot on – for example the higher placed gear lever just falls into your left hand so easily! Like the A-Star, higher trim levels get an external tachometer which in this case sits on the left side of the single pod speedometer console.

The high seating position and a relatively light steering makes the Ritz easy to drive in traffic. Still a bit bouncy
The cabin is remarkably airy thanks to large windows. The seats too are more comfortable than the interior space suggests, thanks to an upright seating position and loads of headroom. The generous and comfortable front seats with a high seating position translate to hours of stress-free city travel. It’s amazing how much an extra couple of inches of height boost your confidence. Sitting in the Ritz’s lofty seat
The best bit really is the suspension set-up which is softened for low-speed trundling over uneven roads. Ritz uses McPherson struts and coil spring at the front.

The best car for middle class India in this segment, particularly young and joyful youth. When compared to foreign brands this vehicle doesn't let you down because of its new appearance and upgradation. It is really shaped well with newly added features and comforts. I don't know why Maruti didn't give proper add of this super refined vehicle. The engine is very smooth & silent, great pick-up, no vibrations at high speed, no jerksoscillation on uneven surface, no cheap plastic interiors, excellent mileage, very spacious and comfortable seating with good leg room. The cooling is superb and the driving is enjoyable. Overall, it is a price worth and amazing hatchback. If you have passion in driving the vehicles then you really prefer Maruti ritz. Finally, kudos to vehicle designers and technicians for bringing a perfect vehicle in India.

I am proud owner of Maruti RItz ZXI model of 2014. It has a very good mileage ,Car is very stable on highways at speed of 110 also. It's ABD really works which i had tested on braking at speed of 80 . I was looking for a car which i can take in steep ghats in AC as some of cars really don't work with AC switched on . I never had problem of engine pulling back or load comming on electric instruments. I had gone far till goa, udaipur, new delhi punjab with continous ac on and never faced any problem I really recommend this car as it is good product from Maruti
