Mahindra Verito Vibe hatchback saw the day of light in the year 2013. The idea behind was to give a stylish and premium hatchback in the catching sub-4 meter segment. The Verito Vibe features cleverly chopped off boot that limits its overall length to 3,991mm which means this hatchback carved out of sedan enjoys the tax relaxation and benefits offered by the Indian government. Mahindra Verito Vibe is always praised for the comfort and the power packed performance it offers to its customers. The Verito Vibe is the vehicle that gets rugged looks, offers nice features and has powerful engine and due to this mixture, the car won many hearts. Its efficient engine, stylish exteriors and spacious interiors makes it a good buy among its league.
In terms of appearance, the engineers at Mahindra have to redesign the Logan to Verito Vibe image and that was a pretty difficult task but they managed to lend it a flare. It’s more than a Verito without boot. The front face features wide and attractive radiator grille, smoked headlamps and fog lamps. On the sides, Verito Vibe gets genuinely good looking wheel designs. Its flared wheel arches and strong shoulder lines changes the overall looks of the car. The rear part gets body coloured rear bumper and to enhance the looks at the back, high mount stop lamp on its windshield have been integrated.
Dimensionally, Mahindra Verito Vibe comes under the sub 4-meter mark that reduces the taxes and avails the sub 4 meter benefits. Mahindra Verito Vibe measures 3991mm in length, 1540mm high and gets 1740mm of width. The wheelbase stands at 2630mm while the boot space is 330L. Mahindra Verito Vibe is offered in vibrant shades namely Java Brown, Fiery Black, Mist Silver, Dolphin Grey, Toreador Red, Aqua Rush and Diamond White.
The interiors of Mahindra Verito Vibe remain the same as seen in Verito sedan. The entire layout and the controls are pretty much the same. The most interesting part of this car is the spaciousness it offers providing comfortable ride quality to 5 passengers. Mahindra comes with lot of classy and attractive interior elements. The seats are very comfortable and are covered with woven jacquard fabric upholstery and are very well cushioned. The features included in the vehicle are Air conditioner with cabin heater, adjustable head restraints, power steering, rear defogger, power windows (front and rear), electrically adjustable rear view mirror, front door map pocket and 2 DIN Music system along with USB slot, AUX IN, CD/MP3 player and 4 speakers. There are also storage spaces for bottles, parcel shelf and storage space at the center console.
Under the hood, Mahindra Verito Vibe houses a 1.5L diesel mill. The powertrain has the potential to churn the power output of 65PS and pumping out maximum torque of 160Nm. The engine comes mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle delivers ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 20.8kmpl. The suspension remains the same as the sedan, the car has very decent ride and handles the roads quite well.
Checking the safety aspects, though not par with the contemporaries, Mahindra Verito Vibe do gets some set of essential safety features such as driver side airbag ABS with EBD, Anti-theft engine immobiliser, collapsible steering column, adjustable front seat belt, child proof rear door lock, central locking and prismatic day-night inside rear view mirror.
Mahindra Verito Vibe is available in three different variants such as D2, D4 and D6. In terms of pricing, Mahindra Verito Vibe is tagged quite competitively. Its base trim Verito Vibe 1.5 dCi D2 is available at the price tag of Rs. 6.58 lakh. The mid-range model 1.5 dCi D4 is offered at the price tag of Rs. 6.86 lakh while top of the line trim 1.5 dCi D6 is tagged at Rs. 7.5 lakh. In terms of competition, Mahindra Verito Vibe locks horns with cars such as Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, and Toyota Liva in the segment.

The car carries the interiors straightforward from the sedan sibling and it’s not a bad thing either. Irrespective of the polarized opinions of the lack of styling outside, the car scores brownie points when it comes to practicality in the cabin. In fact, it is one of the most spacious vehicles in its segment with front seats able to absorb full grown adults. There is plenty of leg room and knee room at the rear as three adults can sit comfortably with the bench itself sufficiently plush. And despite the car getting a sloping windscreen at the rear, the tall people wouldn’t bother about headroom.
In terms of storage, there are enough cubby holes across the cabin to stow loose items with the small notch in the dashboard above the glovebox would come handy as well. The quality of seat fabrics and plastic is similar to what we have seen in the Verito with an elegant mock carbon fibre treatment given to the centre console. The beige and grey colour interior theme has been carried forward while the dashboard gets a dual-toned beige and black treatment. Verito bros share the same instrument panel having a crispy large dials for the speedo and the tachometer. In the center, there is multi-information display showing relevant information of the vehicle including odometer, fuel consumed since start, average speed, average kmpl, distance travelled and time.
The lack of premiumness is evident from the fact that the steering wheel does not have mounted controls. This is something not expected from a car in this price segment. There no climate control but the same air conditioner with cabin heater which work average. The music system is the same we have seen in other cars from Mahindra. It’s a 2-DIN stereo system with USB, CD and Aux-in connectivity with decibels powered by Blaupunkt speakers.
The car might have shed some of its length but the boot is still generous with 330L of space. The only point of concern for some would be to load and unload the luggage since the access is small due to fixed rear windscreen. Overall, the interiors are satisfactory but not contemporary in any sense.

Turning a sedan into a hatch and vice versa is relatively an easier task as compared to crafting a car from the scratch. But we should not forget the fact that Verito Vibe follows the traits of its ancestor Renault Logan. Of course, the chopping off the boot takes its own time and effort as this car was initially designed to be a sedan. So while the company itself terming the car as shortened version of sedan, it’s up to the consumers and auto enthusiasts out there to see the car with their own perspective, but most will prefer to call it as a hatchback.
You will not find much change from the sedan version as far as the front half portion of the hatchback is concerned. The car still boast of unique boxy front, however, the recent upgrades given to the sedan including the new grille has given it a sportier look. The partly blackened out headlamps looks good while the black toothed grille gives familiar appearance, but the one in sedan is laden with chrome. The side profile lends an impression of a hatchback rather than a compact sedan. The car gets champagne coloured alloy wheels which really gives it an edge over the sedan version.
But where the distinction comes in the picture is from the C-pillar. The windscreen at the rear heavily slants back and is edged at both the sides by two vertically stacked tail lamps which looks quite dated but the addition of LED lights is certainly appreciable. Moreover, other details such as high mounted indicators and the brake lights are really impressive. And unlike conventional hatchbacks bootlid layout, what we see here is that the windscreen remains fixed when you open the boot.
Overall, the styling of Verito Vibe is not such which can really delight every carbuyer’s tastebuds. However, for those who want old school looks especially that of those available in the 90s, would really appreciate the design. It might lack the needed curves but the visual muscle at the rear is more than enough for a good road presence.

Mileage Running Cost

The Verito Vibe returns ARAI certified mileage of 20.8kmpl but in real world driving conditions, it can easily give around 16-17kmpl. Though the numbers are not excellent when we look at what competition is offering, still it would be easy on pockets when it comes to daily commute.

Comfort Suspension

This car would mainly be used in and around the urban areas while it is also good when taken occasionally at outskirts as the car is pretty stable at triple digit speeds. However, when it comes to NVH levels, you will be disappointed as rattling in the diesel engine is evident while it seeps into the cabin.
The steering is certainly on the heavier side which makes pretty difficult in manoeuvring the car in heavy traffic and low speeds. The car does not enjoy darting into the corners but does takes care of the slightest of the road imperfection. Overall, the handling is predictable and confidence inspiring.

Engine Performance

The Verito Vibe is powered by 1.5L dCi engine shared from Renault. The motor is undoubtedly a tried and tested unit with excellent track record. The powertrain is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox which does a nice job with sorted ratios means the car does not hesitate in high gears at low rpms. And just like the sedan sibling, the Verito Vibe with this engine is very much drivable with weight shedding has even made it better. The detuned version of the K9K engine pumps out 64PS and 160Nm of torque.
The numbers might not appear sufficient on paper, but in real world, these figures do a good job. There is minimal turbo lag and the power delivery is quite linear just like a petrol engine. In city driving, the engine really offers what a typical carbuyer would expect.

Braking Safety

Brakes of Verito Vibe are pretty effective but lack the feel of confidence that many other cars have. In the safety department, if you look from the contemporary standards, you would be a bit disappointed as only top variants are loaded with crucial safety aspects including ABS with EBD and driver side airbag.
Other safety measures which are standard include collapsible steering column, adjustable front seat belts and anti-theft engine immobilizer.

    my verito vibe

Verito Vibe is a very good option. Its a drivers car! the suspension setup like the Renault gives you a weighted steering, cornering stability and also low speed bad road comfort. It is just sub-4 meter and hence the interior space is better than Swift or Amaze. The boot lid is a bit small for the size of the boot Read More
