Mahindra has lots to offer in the Indian market and one of the most interesting will be the hatchback based on the Verito sedan. The hatchback will be a worthy addition and since the launch of the Verito, this is another good news. The Verito hatchback will be under 4 meters to take benefit of laws regarding vehicles under 4 meters.

The Maindra Verito Vibe has been launched and without a doubt is one of the most important launches by Mahindra. One look at these pictures of the Mahindra Verito Vibe and it looks like a hatch however with a fixed rear windscreen and the fact that the boot is opened sedan style with the boot lid at the bottom of the windscreen, it is actually a compact sedan. Though to the eyes of most, the Vibe looks like a hatch. The Verito hatchback will be under 4 meters to take benefit of laws regarding vehicles under 4 meters. This is a clever move as instead of shrinking the boot it has been shaped like a hatch which means space and legroom will be as good as the Verito sedan. The first thing that hits you when you look at the rear is the large tail-lamps which look attractive and big tail-gate. The rear bumper is also neatly finished plus as you can see you get roof-rails. However what is slightly disappointing is that from the front it has the same front end as the Verito sedan save for some minor tweaks like carbon-finished front grille, smoked headlamps and dual-tone rear bumper. The interior is functional and focussing more on practicality side. The design is clearly picked up whole-sale from the Verito sedan. So that means it has comfortable interiors. Just like the Verito sedan the Vibe is spacious and has excellent headroom and legroom. In fact the Verito Vibe will be one of the most spacious cars in its class beating the Toyota Etios Liva in this regard too. This is something that will appeal to many.  It has a 330 lit boot space and has 3 adjustable rear headrests. There are three variants with D2, D4 and D6. The top model has 2 DIN music system with CD/USB/MP3/Aux-in and two-tone upholstery. There is no steering controls or Bluetooth. On the engines expect the same diese unit as in the Verito sedan.  The Verito Vibe will have only a diesel option in its range and there will be no petrol option because Mahindra currently do not have a small petrol engine in its portfolio. It will be powered by the 1.5 litre Renault K9K diesel engine and as we have discovered in other applications it is decent to drive and very economical to boot.  It has 64 bhp which means you will wish for more horses. Just like the sedan the Verito Vibe is not that much of a handler but is decent and stability is good. In safety terms it has ABS with EBD, Driver Airbag, Cross-member located in the boot for extra protection in the rear and Side - impact beams. The Vibe is pretty efficient with an average of 20.8 kmpl. Just like the sedan the Verito Vibe rides very well and soaks up the bumps better than many of its rivals. Guess the handling has been traded for this. The Verito Vibe D2 starts from 5.63 lakh while the top D6 is at Rs 6.49 lakh. For a detailed analysis read below.

The design of the dash and material quality is pretty much same with the Verito sedan so its slightly plain looking but functional. It has a 330 lit boot space and has 3 adjustable rear headrests. There are three variants with D2, D4 and D6. The top model has 2 DIN music system with CD/USB/MP3/Aux-in and two-tone upholstery. There is no steering controls or Bluetooth.

Mahindra Verito Vibe Pictures

As you can see from the pictures it seems that Mahindra have made a big effort to make the Verito Vibe attractive. It is not just a job of cutting the boot of a Verito sedan as you can see.  It looks like a hatch however with a fixed rear windscreen and the fact that the boot is opened sedan style with the boot lid at the bottom of the windscreen, it is actually a compact sedan. This is a clever move as instead of shrinking the boot it has been shaped like a hatch which means space and legroom will be as good as the Verito sedan. However what is slightly disappointing is that from the front it has the same front end as the Verito sedan save for some minor tweaks like carbon-finished front grille, smoked headlamps and dual-tone rear bumper.

What we like

Looks good from the rear

What we don't like

Same as sedan from the front

Exteriors Details

Front Design

While the rear looks smart, taking a walk around the front reveals that the bean counters at Mahindra seemed to have it their way. The front and side is pure Verito sedan and nothing major has been done to the rest which is slightly disappointing as the front and the rear end seem to be divorced from each other and have no design connection. The only changes include the smoked headlamps and carbon finished grille.

Rear Design

Walk up to the Vibe and on first account, it seems to be a good looking hatchback when viewed from the rear. The design influences like the large LED (first in class) tail-lamps are all pointing towards it being a hatch.

Side Profile

The side profile of the Vibe is a hatch and not seem like a sedan

Tail Lamps

The tail lamp is well designed and fits the rear design of the car beautifully and are LED

Fog Lamps

The fog lamps of the car are well placed at the front and rear to give better visibility in bad weather conditions.

Tyres

Verito Vibe has 185/70 R14 Tubeless

Alloy Wheels

Verito Vibe has champagne alloys

Colors

Verito Vibe is available in seven colours

Roof Rails

There are roof rails in Verito Vibe

Spare Wheel

There is a spare wheel at the boot of the car.

My verito vibe

By Sss Posted on 23 Sep 13, 11:15 PM

Pros Comfort,

Cons Average Looks,

Verito Vibe is a very good option. Its a drivers car! the suspension setup like the Renault gives you a weighted steering, cornering stability and also low speed bad road comfort. It is just sub-4 meter and hence the interior space is better than Swift or Amaze. The boot lid is a bit small for the size of the boot which is big. If you are ready to consider the Verito Vibe in your list. Its a very good option.

Quite a vibey car

By Varadaraj Malli Posted on 07 May 14, 11:53 AM

Pros Good Performance,

Cons Average Looks,

Please help i dont know why but my car has much vibration. I used to drive on bad roads and one day the vibration started but the dealer couldnt fix it properly. Now the vibrations are quite uncomfortable and there is a jarring noise from the from suspension. The dealer is not fixing the problem so i took to the local mechanic and he said it will cost 20000 to fix the problem. Please tell me why this is happening.
