Mahindra Verito is one of known models born from the Renault-Nissan badge. In India it was sold as collaboration between Mahindra and Nissan as the nameplate Logan. After a year or two of its launch it became a sole Mahindra product in the subcontinent. The company renamed the product as Verito and provided it with required updates. The Mahindra Verito is the car that flourishes on practicality. Over the past years, the Verito has improved a lot in terms of looks and still sustains the cut-throat competition. The car has amazing spacious cabin, rugged looks, reliable diesel engine all which shows its value for money quotient.
On the outer profile, Mahindra Verito becomes a looker with each and every update. The car gets boxy contours along with rugged styling details. It also carries the masculine character of the sedan. At the front, the vehicle features chrome finished radiator grille and large headlamps which are fixed at the edge of the bonnet. Bumper comes with the wide air intakes and the fog lamps. Checking on the sides, Verito gets basic sporty blackened pillars and flared wheel arches. New alloy wheels and roof rails add to the overall appeal. The rear part gets basic sedan features while the tailgate comes finished in chrome that looks pleasing to eyes. In terms of dimensions, the Verito measures 4277mm in length, 1740mm in width, 1540mm in height while the wheelbase and ground clearance stands at 2630mm and 172mm respectively. Mahindra Verito is available in various colour pallets namely Fiery Black, Java Brown, Twilight Blue, Rocky Beige, Mist silver, Toreador Red, Dolphin Grey and Diamond White.
Interior is the most special part in the Verito, the car cabin is so spacious and appealing that amazes the person who is not familiar with the car before. It has the wonderful legroom and headroom for the comfortable long drives. Elderly person can also travel in the car without any hassle. Its hydraulic power steering weighs up well while its smartly designed centre console charms the attention. The Verito is adorned with the dual tone beige and black inner scheme that looks good. The list of equipment include LCD display on instrument, air conditioning with heater, 2-DIN audio system with USB, Aux-in and 4 speakers, keyless entry, internally adjustable rear view mirror and power outlets 12V among others. The core plus point of the car is its roomy interiors with huge boot space. The car features one of the widest seats in the segment so that three passengers can sit comfortably.
In terms of specifications, Mahindra Verito is available in diesel mill only. Its 1.5L four cylinder diesel engine is capable of generating the power output of 64bhp and the maximum torque of 160Nm. The powertrain comes mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. The car delivers the ARAI certified fuel economy of 21.03kmpl.
Checking on the safety aspects, Mahindra Verito comes loaded with many safety features such as driver side airbags, ABS and EBD and collapsible steering column. Other than this the car comes with engine immobiliser, electric rear window child lock, central locking, power door lock and headlamps beam adjuster.
Mahindra Verito is available in three different variants such as D2, D4 and D6. Checking the pricing details, Mahindra Verito’s Base variant 1.5 D2 is offered at the starting price tag of Rs. 7.48 lakh, its mid-range trim 1.5 D4 is available at the price tag of Rs. 7.73 lakh. The top of the line trim Verito 1.5 D6 is tagged at Rs. 8.45 lakh while Mahindra Verito’s 1.5 Executive edition is offered at the price tag of Rs. 8.87 lakh, ex-showroom.
In terms of competition, Mahindra Verito takes on Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Toyota Etios in the segment.

The interiors of the sedan have been ramped up to make it more user friendly. The overall quality and fit and finish have been enhanced. The centre console features panel finished in carbon fibre to make the car look more eye pleasing. The earlier cheap looking beige steering has been replaced by black one which along with beige interiors create a nice and appealing combination. The plastic quality is also improved from the earlier model and a bit better than the yesteryear’s Logan. The older single DIN audio system has been replaced by more sophisticated 2-DIN music system shared from Xylo. The unit also comes with USB and Aux-In ports but misses on the Bluetooth.
The cabin of Verito has always been the benchmark of space. The seats are very comfortable at both front and the rear while the new arrangement of the door grab handles and the buttons for winding up windows have also been made convenient. There is more than adequate head and knee room at both the rows and the trunk space is large enough to absorb majority of your luggage. The driver’s seat gives you the commanding view of the road ahead. The outside rear view mirrors are also bigger and now electrically adjustable.
Mostly, the things in the car remain unchanged including the instrument cluster, the design of the steering, seats as well as the ac vents. In terms of storage, there is front door map pocket, parcel shelf, mobile holder, bottle holder and a large storage space at the centre console which shows the practical nature of this sedan.

The objective behind the making of Logan sedan was to present it as the most affordable car in the European market. This is the reason why the design of the sedan was boxy without any curves and creases that would have increased the cost. But ever since Mahindra took the control of the car and rebadged it after separating from the joint venture, there have been multiple changes. The new Verito gets fresh front fascia with new Mahindra grille along with revamped bumper design.
The looks have been enhanced with the chrome radiator grille housing slanted vertical slats with Mahindra badge embossed on it. The eyebrow shaped headlight cluster houses the powerful high intensity halogen lights with levelling device which helps the driver get better view of the road at night. The hood now features prominent strakes and chrome giving the car a more appealing stance. The side profile gets roof rails that seem to be hugging the body and the blacked out pillars which are now part of Mahindra’s new design philosophy. The small ORVM have been replaced by a large set in the newer version.
The rear profile features the same crispy theme as that of the front. What is more interesting is that the quality has been upped by notches. The redesigned tail lamps and bumper has reduced the visual bulk and the way those crispy creases emerge from the bootlid and merges with the tail lamps add more to the overall appeal.

Mileage Running Cost

Mahindra Verito is powered by the one and only diesel engine which is quite a low fuel guzzler. The car returns ARAI certified mileage of 21kmpl which is although good but still lags behind the competition.

Comfort Suspension

There is no doubt that Logan offered a plush ride quality. So Mahindra has taken forward the same underpinnings in the Verito with little tweaks. The suspension setup has been slightly raised to give more pliant ride as most of the road undulations and shocks are better absorbed. The suspension besides working silently helps the car glides over the potholes smoothly. The NVH levels are pretty much low and the engine is fairly refined. There is not much of the clattering when the engine is kicked off.
The car carries forward the agility of handling from the Logan. The rides seem planted and instil confidence irrespective on corner or straight roads. The body roll is minimal while the steering is also precise at lower speeds. However, at high speeds, the car seems to be loose at some points. Overall, the power delivery is fair and pottering the car in bumper to bumper traffic and highway is not a problem at all.

Engine Performance

The Verito sedan earlier featured two engine options; the 1.4L MPFI petrol and the 1.5L dCi CRDi diesel engine. However, due to poor response the petrol powered Verito was discontinued a few years back. Now the only option remains is the diesel engine which is borrowed from the Logan. And remember, this is the second most popular diesel engine after Fiat’s Multijet.
The engine produce 65PS and 160Nm of max torque, mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The motor doesn’t hesitate at low revs and traversing within the traffic is quite easy. The engine now feels smoother and well insulated while erratic and heavy clutch in the previous model now feels lighter and progressive. However, once you cross the 3500 rpm, the power fizzles out and the ideal way is to shift the gear up and remain in the power band.
Somehow, the shifts on the gearbox are a bit of disappointment following its rubbery nature. However, the gear ratios are bang on and the car pulls fairly. Overall, the performance has been improved as compared to what we have seen in the earlier model.

Braking Safety

The braking power is adequate and you will not lose confidence. And with anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution on board, rest assured you have command over the road ahead. Mahindra should have upped the bar in the safety department looking at what competition is offering. Only the top end model comes with driver airbag and ABS with EBD which is a dated approach by the carmaker.
However, other variants do get features such as central locking, child proof lock, anti-theft engine immobilizer, adjustable front and rear head restraints, rear defogger and prismatic day-night inside rear view mirror.
