Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 is the latest offering by the company in India. First previewed in the month of March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Huracan is successor to the company’s best-selling model of all times, the Gallardo. Like the Gallardo, the Huracan is a compact high performance car that is as desirable as any supercar out there.
The name Huracan stands for a number of things. It is the Spanish word for ‘hurricane’.  However, as Lamborghini has always named its car on fighting bulls, how can this one be any different? The Huracan was a Spanish bull that was known for its courage and fought in 1879. The Lamborghini Huracan takes its inspiration from this brawny bull. Also, as per the Mayan mythology the Huracan is the god of wind, storm and fire - something that aptly fits for the baby Lamborghini, too.
The Huracan with its sharp hexagonal edges, massive air intakes and an aggressive front fascia that adorns full LED headlamps looks as intimidating as any of the other Lamborghini sport-cars that have rolled out of Bologna in the past.
On the inside, the Huracan receives a  lengthy range of standard equipment. This include full LED illumination, a full-colour TFT instrument panel, Nappa leather and Alcantara interior upholstery, redesigned dashboard layout and central tunnel; and a Stop & Start system. The interiors overall appear to have been lifted straight off a stealth-jet’s cockpit as most of the control knobs and buttons on the dashboard, and elsewhere inside the car, are styled on similar theme.
Among other major highlights the Huracan comes equipped with Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) 7-speed dual clutch transmission that has 3 selectable driving modes on offer- Strada, Sport and Corsa; 20 inch alloy wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, optional Lamborghini Dynamic Steering variable steering system and electromagnetic damper control. The powertrain sits in the middle of the Huracan’s chassis in similar fashion. It is a 5.2 litre naturally aspirated V10 petrol engine. However, on the Huracan the engine is uprated to produce more firepower! The engine features both direct fuel injection and multi-point fuel injection.
Optional extras offered on the Huracan include interior enhancements with replaceable carbon fibre components, special paint schemes, different suspension, and a nose-lifting system.
With the Huracan, Lamborghini will be competing against products from rival brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati etc., in India.

The cabin of the Huracan oozes quality, be it the way it looks or feels. The pair of firm bucket seats surrounded by a stealth fighter lookalike gadgetry screams of its typical Lamborghini roots. A new TFT-screen finds place in the centre of the dashboard design and the display on it can be customized depending on the occupants’ mood. The paddle-shifters for the gearbox are housed behind the steering wheel and are significantly larger than the outgoing car.

The controls for headlamps, indicator switches and windscreen wipers have been moved on to the steering wheel on the Huracan. Among other major features there’s a fighter-jet inspired Start-Stop button and a Sat-Nav system.

The sheer drama of a Lamborghini is the way it looks on the road. And with the Hurcan the designers did not disappoint. The Huracan is one of the most beautiful automobile shapes of all time. Nonetheless, the Hurcan is one intimidating looking car from all angles. The rakish front end of the Huracan adorns sleek looking LED headlamps. There’s a full-width front grille that adds extra dose of aggression to the car. The wedge-like profile along with massive air takes catch the attention of the onlookers too.

Towards the rear, there are four-exhaust openings which are housed around an intricate honeycomb grille mesh that runs throughout the width of the car. Slatted engine cover finished in matte black adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the car. Lamborghini also claims that the Huracan is one fine example of form following the function since the car now produces 50 per cent more downforce than the car it replaces, the Gallardo.

Mileage Running Cost

Since the Huracan is a high-end performance car, expect a lowly single digit mileage figure for the car.

Comfort Suspension

The Huracan features a double wishbone suspension setup with optional magnetic dampers. The damping of the suspension could be changed via a button on the steering wheel which is called Anima. The driver on the car can choose from 3 selectable driving modes- Strada (road) , Sport and Corsa (racetrack). The suspension is softest in Strada mode and hardens up subsequently in the Sport and Corsa mode. Still, don’t expect it offer a saloon like plush ride experience, the Huracan is still a very dedicated sports-car and will behave in a similar manner.

Engine Performance

Power duties on the Huracan are carried out by the company’s 5.2 litre naturally aspirated V10 unit, which has been thoroughly reworked for the Huracan LP610-4. The engine is mounted in the middle of the car and develops a monstrous amount of power and torque for the Huracan. It produces 610PS of power at 8,250rpm along with a torque of 560Nm @ 6,500rpm. As a result, 0-100km/h is done within just 3.2 seconds while the top-speed of up to 325km/h can be reached within no time.

Braking Safety

Handling is one area where the Huracan shines and completely overwhelms the driver. As the ‘4’in its LP610-4 suggests, the Huracan has an electronically controlled four-wheel drive system that sends 70 per cent of the power to rear wheels in normal condition, but can also transmit 100 per cent power to the rear in case it senses slip at the front wheels. The system uses a set of gyroscopes, accelerometers to tell the steering, gearbox and chassis the car’s centre of gravity and other factors that will aid the handling of the car.

The Huracan features carbon-ceramic brake discs as standard, and as a result, there's no brake fade. The braking is exceptionally good and inspires a lot of confidence in the driver when pushing the car on its limits. full size dual-stage front airbags along with full size lateral airbags.
