Although it's based on the Jazz' platform, it's bigger in every aspect. The WRV measures 3999mm long, 1734mm wide and 1601mm tall. That's 44mm, 40mm and 57mm of growth in length, width and height, respectively. The wheelbase and ground clearance measure 2555mm and 188mm, which is 25mm and 23mm more than the Jazz, respectively. At 363 litres, even the boot space has grown by nine litres. The 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 90PS of power at 6000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4800rpm. The all-aluminium i-DTEC diesel engine makes 100PS of power at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm. The petrol engine gets a revised 5-speed gearbox while the diesel engine carries over the familiar 6-speed gearbox as it is. Mileage claims stand at 17.5kmpl for the petrol trim and 25.5kmpl for the diesel engine. Noteworthy features of the WRV include an electric sunroof, climate control and LED daytime running lights. Cruise control, keyless entry and push-button start are reserved only for the diesel model. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is carried over from the City and it gets 1.5GB of storage with two microSD slots, two USB ports and an HDMI port. It also supports WiFi for Internet connectivity and MirrorLink for smartphone connectivity. ABS and dual airbags are standard on all variants. The Honda WR-V competes against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.

Review of Honda WRV

Overview

The 2017 Honda WR-V is based on the Honda Jazz platform and looks like a completely different animal from every angle. That’s because it’s bigger than the Jazz in every way. The WR-V measures 3999mm long, 1734mm wide and 1601mm tall. That's an increase of 44mm in length, 40mm in width and 57mm in height. The wheelbase and ground clearance measure 2555mm and 188mm, respectively. That's a growth of 25mm in wheelbase and 23mm in ground clearance. At 354 litres, even the boot space has grown by nine litres. Increase in dimensions and wheelbase has impacted the turning radius though, which now measures 5.3m compared to the Jazz’ 5.1m. Engine and transmission combinations are also carried over but the CVT automatic has been given a miss. The 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 90PS of power at 6000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4800rpm and comes with a revised 5-speed gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 100PS of power at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Fuel efficiency is rated at 17.5kmpl for the petrol variant and 25.5kmpl for the diesel-powered WR-V. The diesel variant gets some extra love from the carmaker as it gets additional features like cruise control, keyless entry and push-button start. Common features include electric sunroof, front centre armrest and 16-inch alloy wheels with 195-section tyres. ABS and dual airbags are standard on all variants of the Honda WR-V. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the same as the one on the facelifted Honda City. It gets 1.5GB of internal storage along with two microSD card slots, two USB ports and one HDMI port. The system can also connect to the Internet via WiFi and MirrorLink to connect to compatible Android phones. It doesn't get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which are easier to operate and sync better with the latest generation of smartphones. We’re expecting the crossover to cost between Rs 7 and 10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
