The face-lifted version of the new look Fiests was first shown at the 2014 Auto Expo and comes across as a much better product in terms of both styling and overall package. Ford has done away with the petrol engine option and this new 2014 Fiesta comes with only a 1.5-litre diesel motor that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Ford claims the fuel economy has been improved and it now stands at a rated 25.01kmpl.
Visually, the new Fiesta looks stunning. While the older version had a great front end, this facelifted version has managed to erase the not-so-good looking rear end by offering bigger tail lamps, a small integrated boot lip and a new bumper. Coming back to the front, the new lamps and bigger grille imparts a very premium feel and most of us can't help but compare it to some of the Aston models! The alloy wheel design is new as well and so are two new colors of Golden Bronze (the one you see here) and smoke grey.
On the inside, things remain largely unchanged save for the new seat fabric. The new Fiesta gets additional equipment and the top end model now comes with light sensing lamps, rain sensing wipers, advanced SYNC system etc. Rear seat space however continues to remain tight as compared to the Verna and the City.
The Fiesta remains a driver's delight and is a joy to drive around twisting roads. Road manners are the best in segment and further, the suspension tends to soak up bumps in a very able and mature way. NVH levels are brilliant too. However, we would have loved more punch from the diesel motor as both the chassis and brakes can handle a lot more
