The 2016 Ford Endeavour is a premium SUV offering from the American car maker. It comes with two diesel engine options namely a 2.2 litre 4-cylinder and a 3.2 litre 5-cylinder. The 2016 Ford Endeavour is a benchmark in its segment in terms of the mechanical and electronic features available with the vehicle. A terrain response system which changes the behavour the mechanicals with respect to the terrain at hand.

The 2.2 litre diesel generates 160PS of power at 3200 rpm while the 3.2 litre version chruns out 200PS at 3000 rpm. Torque figures stand at 385Nm @ 1600 - 2500 rpm for the smaller engine and a massive 470Nm @ 1750 - 2500 rpm.

The 2016 Ford Endeavour is a well designed premium SUV that is 4892 mm long, 1860 mm wide and 1837 mm tall with a ground clearance of 225 mm. The Endeavour has a water wading capacity of 800 mm and has a wheelbase of 2850 mm. The tyres are a massive 265/60 shod with 18 inch alloy rims.

Engine

The 2016 Ford Endeavour will continue to come with two diesel engine options. A 4-cylinder 2.2-litre unit puts out 160 PS of power and the 3.2 5-pot generates 200PS. Ford has offered a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission options. The smaller engine impressed us a lot. Inspite of a lower capacity, the motor felt peppy enough during part throttle inputs. It does not push you back into the seat during spirited driving but rewards you with excellent NVH levels and impressive fuel economy figures. The bigger 3.2-litre motor is rather interesting. It will be the cheapest diesel SUV in India to crack the 200 PS mark and also offers tarmac tearing torque of 470Nm. While we were a bit disappointed with the punch when going down hard on the accelerator pedal, the way this engine crosses over 100 kmph is remarkable. The 6-speed auto ‘box however takes its own sweet time responding to your inputs. Even while changing gears manually, there is a considerable lag in shifts.

What we like

Great off-road and on-road performance; Refined engine units

What we don't like

Autobox could be more response

Safety

At low speeds, the 2016 Ford Endeavour is comfortable and a bit on the softer side. At high speeds, the Endeavour seems to shed its weight and starts to feel like a compact SUV and suspension firms up  to turn tackle corners. Off-road on steep descents, muddy up-hill bends, stream crossings and the works, the Endeavour took it all in its stride and seemed unruffled. The braking of the Ford Endeavour inspires confidence however could do with more bite.

What we like

Extremely comfortable on-and off-road; Well-equipped safety package

What we don't like

Brakes could have had more bite

Comfort

The 2016 Ford Endeavour is equipped with independent coil spring with anti-roll bar and coil springs, watts linkage with anti-roll bars. This makes the premium SUV comfortable on as well as off-road.

What we like

Descent comfort on and off-road

What we don't like

Nothing Really!

A Rugged Beast

By Aiysa Posted on 21 Apr 08, 07:20 AM

Pros Ok Looks, Great Off Road performance,

Cons Non existent mileage, Difficult to park, Loud

I think there are better cars than the Ford Endevour at it's price point. The CR-V outscores over it anyday for regular city driving. But the minute you take the Endeavour off the road and it brings out the beast in the car. I have gone over the steepest inclines in it and the endevour simply takes the incline in its stide.

Fantastic SUV no doubt

By Jaideep Posted on 22 Jul 14, 03:09 PM

Pros Great Looks,Good Performance,Great Interiors,Comfort,

Cons Average Fuel Efficiency,

I have been driving this beast for 7 months now and I am very happy to note that I am fully satisfied and happy with the vehicle. I drive a Endeavour 3L 4X4 automatic. The driving is a pleasure and completely great in heavy traffic. It is very easy to maneuver and the sitting posture is great. I used to get back pain on long journeys in my early Tata Safari, but in this car I have never felt any discomfort in my back. Max I have driven in one shot is 7hours. The automatic transmission is very smooth any the pickup is just great. I can leave everyone in a cloud of dust by just one flick of my accelerator in a red light. The ride can be a bit bumpy but if I reduce tyre pressures to 30psi then the ride gets good. Also the turning raduis of this SUV is great and I have used it in busy roads in Bangalore, and I m very happy. I drive to office and back home every day in my Endeavour and get a mileage of 9.5KMPL every day. On highways I get around 11KMPL.

Proud to own this vehicle

By Manoranjan Posted on 29 Oct 13, 04:26 PM

Pros Great Looks,Good Performance,Comfort,

Cons Average Fuel Efficiency,

Drive this in city or take this on hills and off road, you will feel proud. Being a longest car in Indian SUV the 3rd row is also comfortable (However Innova's 3rd row has more comfort) than any other SUV's.
