Ford launched its first generation Endeavour in India in 2003 and with the launch, started a premium SUV segment in the subcontinent. The vehicle was characterized as the most affordable premium SUV at that time, it has the macho looks, very reliable and had lots of space inside. Since its inception, minimal changes were timely provided to the vehicle. But in the year 2016, Ford introduced its second generation Endeavour, heating up the competition in the space. Visually, new Ford looks much better in context of styling and bigger in posture, while a strong dose of updates has been given to the interior profile. The engine department also gets a prominent transformation. All these increased the road presence of this car which was never like before.
The new Endeavour is fully developed and designed by Ford, built on the all-new T6 platform and the design is future ready that will age gracefully. On the outside, Ford Endeavour appears longer and has a burgeoning semblance that goes quite well with the SUVs persona. The front bonnet is wide and gets subtle lines while its chrome radiator grille and lean headlights enhance the appearance. On the side, Ford Endeavour gets large 18-inch wheels that are standard across the range. Its chrome treated handles, black finish window frame and chrome finished rear view mirrors, class up the entire looks. Rear profile is designed fairly well, its slightly protruding tailgate and windscreen lend a stylish look to the car.
Inside the cabin, Endeavour has nothing that resembles the old model; all the things provided in the car are new. The dashboard is upright and has everything on it is just placed in the right position. On the whole, the cabin looks luxurious with fine quality black leather and black piano finish on the central console. The instrument cluster is large with a big speedometer and other aplenty techs for providing information to the driver. The car is quite well spaced and even the third row gets enough legroom for the passengers to sit comfortably. Boot space can be doubled up by folding the seats and that provides generous luggage space. Other features in the list include cruise control, steering mounted audio control, electrically adjustable driver seat and big SYNC3 touchscreen unit.
Mechanically, 2016 Ford Endeavour comes with the choice of two diesel engine options, one is a 2.2 litre 4-cylinder mill that can generate the power output of 160PS and churns the peak torque of 385Nm, mated to 6-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive only. Another option is the 3.2 litre, 5 cylinder engine that produces power output of 200PS and max torque of 470Nm. This powertrain gets the 4X4 wheel drive and comes with automatic transmission.
For the safety of its passengers, Ford doesn’t compromise at any cost. With a 5-star rating, the car comes loaded with features such as 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill assist, traction control, electronic stability program, engine immobilizer, rear wiper, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers.
Ford Endeavour is available in three different variants viz, 2.2L Trend AT, 2.2L Titanium At and 3.2L Titanium AT. Ford has recently discontinued the manual variant in June 2017. In terms of pricing, its base model Trend AT is tagged at Rs. 26.33 lakh while its top spec model and also the top selling variant 3.2 Titanium AT 4X4 is available at the price tag of Rs. 32.81 lakh, ex-showroom.


In terms of interiors, the all-new Endeavour gets a brand new dashboard featuring typical American design with large horizontal slabs. The three-layer colour scheme includes leather wrapping at the top, glossy in the middle and beige at the bottom. The middle portion seems to be the highlight of the dashboard featuring large touchscreen infotainment, flanked with large chrome outlined AC vents on each side.
Just below the touchscreen infotainment, rest the console for audio and climate control. For charging smartphones, the two 12-volt adapters and 2 USB slots have been provided. Moving to the comfort zone, the seats are newer and coloured in beige which is standard across the variants. The front seats of this 7-seater SUV are pretty large and comfortable while the second and third rows are also supple providing ample headroom and kneeroom. Interestingly, the third row can be pulled up and down via one-touch that makes storage of stuffs pretty easy.
Other comfy features in the car include 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, powered tailgate, large panoramic sunroof, parallel park assist, rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming mirror, automatic headlamps and cruise control.


The new Ford Endeavour without an iota of doubt is massive and huge as compared to its predecessor. It’s not boxy and squared like the previous version. The true blue SUV factor can be seen at the front with large chrome-slat grille depicting the design language of the company along with large bi-xenon headlamps with daytime running LEDs.
The side profile has been given some nice touches in the form of engine badge below the ORVMs, 18-inch alloy wheels and solid door handles. At the back, the biggest change is that the tailgate is without any mounted spare wheel, which was there in the previous models. The SUV gets a new set of smart LED taillights and the large chrome bar that merges into the taillamps, enough to flaunt the brand and the model. Apart from this, the rear also features nicely styled scuff plates finished in matte silver colour.

Mileage Running Cost

Ford Endeavour returns ARAI certified 14.12kmpl in the 2.2L version, 13.50kmpl in 2.2L 4X4 version and 10.91kmpl in the 3.2L 4X4 automatic version respectively. However, given its bulky size, you can expect only single digit mileage within city limits.

Comfort Suspension

The ride quality of the SUV has been drastically improved over the previous version. Now no more bouncing rear, the suspension system is obedient and the passengers would not complain. And despite Ford prioritizing road manners over comfort, the suspension does its job without any thumps.

Engine Performance

The SUV is offered in two diesel engine options; the 2.2L and 3.2L TDCi motors. The former makes 160PS and 385Nm of torque, latter with a larger displacement produces 200PS and 470Nm of max torque. The transmission duties are handled by 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The throttle response of the car is sharp and at urban speeds, the vehicle is very much enjoyable. Thanks to the automatic transmission that smartly masks turbo lag. At highways, it feels fast enough up to the speed of 120kmph and that’s pretty awesome for an SUV of this size.

Braking Safety

The vehicle gets all-wheel disc brakes having adequate grip on roads. The carmaker hasn’t skimped on providing the absolute safety net to the passengers. Where dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, Hill launch assist and Ford MyKey are standard, the top variants gets additional features such as hill descent control, volumetric burglar alarm and side, curtain and knee airbags.
