FIAT Petra, a face lifted Siena was launched in order to improve the dropping sales of Siena. Petra basically looks like a Palio turned into sedan. It offered the same engine line-up as of a Siena and also with a new 1.9liter diesel engine. 1.2 Produced produced a 72bhp coupled with short gearing it was a fun to drive tool in the city traffic, though it lacked in flat out performance, The 1.6 covered where 1.2 was lagging behind. Petra is also a very good handler as it always feels planted and even offered a very good ride quality, its ride quality is pretty good and comfortable. The interiors felt plush and with the factory provided stereo, power windows and central locking in the top end made it a very desirable package. Safety equipments include Airbags which comes optional. The Petra is rugged, looks good and was very competitively priced. Initially it was priced a bit high but later on after launching the sub five laky version it did even better. Though with FIAT’s low number of dealership and ASS it did had ownership issues. But then there wasn’t anything real that could accuse the car of anything. Petra faced competition which was better and was competitively prices as well. The short lived was discontinued later on to make way for the newer generation of FIAT cars.
Used car market for Petra is still very good and one can get some nicely maintained cars, though the availability of spare parts can be an issue. The car should be available between a price range of Rs90000 to 200000 and the 1.9 Diesel could go a tad higher depending upon the condition.
