Review of Audi S6

The S6 is basically a go-faster version of the A6 sedan and that means that this saloon has now reached supercar levels of power. The S6 just like the S4 will explore the super-saloon niche in our market. Audi has also tweaked the looks so that the whole world will know you have the sportiest A6. The S6 gets the single-frame grille with aluminium and chromed horizontal double bars. There is even more chrome in form of a chrome strip at the front bumper. The exterior mirrors feature aluminum-look also. The S6 sedan has a spoiler at the back and a diffuser on the rear bumper plus there are the four chrome-tipped tailpipes which are of course important for emitting V8 music. The S6 is available in a choice of eight colors. Just like the exterior, the interior is sporty and there are S6 badges on the key, the leather sport steering wheel with colored stitching and aluminum shift paddles as well as the instruments. This is after all an S6 which means it has lots of space too! While the last gen S6 had a big naturally aspirated engine this one is back on turbos with a 4.0 TFSI V8. It has 420 bhp which as if we need to tell you is quite quick indeed. The twin-turbo V8 makes 550 Nm of torque from 1,400 to 5,300 rpm. It accelerates the S6 from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds which is just stunning for a fast saloon. As is with other high-performance German cars it has the electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h which is just a formality. The Audi S6 has the fast seven-speed S tronic transmission. The 4.0 TFSI brings Audi’s downsizing strategy and compared to the engine in the previous model, the free-breathing, 5.2-liter V10, it offers better performance while reducing fuel consumption by as much as 25 percent though a person buying this car will not care about that aspect. With that added power a lot have to be changed elsewhere too and the S6 has adaptive air suspension sport as standard. With air suspension coupled with variable damping the body is lowered by 10 millimeters. Even after the big wheels the S6 rides very well. The S6 has the famous quattro permanent all-wheel drive system which uses the self-locking center differential and torque vectoring. This means tremendous grip and it does not feel like a big saloon at all when driving fast through the corners. The S6 is priced at Rs 85.99 lakhs. For a detailed analysis read below..
