Updated Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR spied

Land Rover is planning to launch the updated Range Rover Sport SVR that has been spied testing recently. The spy shots of the new Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR reveal that the SUV will come with the same design language, although some changes have been made to the air intakes at the front bumper.

Powering the new Range Rover SVR is the same supercharged 5.0-litre, V-8 motor that will produce more power now. The power generated by the engine has been tweaked to produce 575PS, while the current Range Rover Sport SVR generates 550PS. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with either paddle shifter or the gear lever.

Besides mechanical changes, the British luxury car maker has also tweaked the cabin. Some additional changes have been made in the form of advanced electronic driver aids. The SUV will be based on the same platform that also underpins the regular Range Rover Sport. Owing to its off-road capabilities, Land Rover will equip the upcoming SVR model with air suspension setup. The suspensions can be tuned to provide more ground clearance of around 9.3 inches. Other standard equipment that will be offered on the new Range Rover SVR include leather upholstery in four colours, leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, 14-way adjustable front seats, front and back heated seats, panoramic sunroof, heated windshield, 825-watt Meridian sound system with 19 speakers, adaptive headlights with automatic high beams, surround camera system and auto-dimming rearview mirror.

For the safety of all occupants, Range Rover Sport SVR will come with standard side, seat-front, thorax and pelvis airbags. Features like electronic traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency brake assist, cornering brake control, hill descent control, blind spot monitoring system and roll stability control will join the safety equipment.

The updated Range Rover Sport SVR is expected to be launched alongside the updated Range Rover Sport in 2017. When launched, the SUV will be pitted against the likes of Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG, BMW X6 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
