Tata Nexon Facelift Spotted, Cosmetic Changes Expected

  • Aug 13, 2019

The facelift version of the Tata Nexon compact crossover sports utility vehicle (SUV) has been spotted during one of its test runs. The Nexon was rolled out in 2017 and competes with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport in its class.

While the facelift version was expectedly heavily camouflaged, it did look distinct from the current Nexon. The car’s front bumper and hood seems to be completely redesigned and the headlights are now much slimmer with a different detailing. The front grille seems reworked and the compact SUV may sport a sharper look when it finally hit the streets.

Though the camouflage didn’t offer a better view at the Nexon facelift, the car may have a slightly redesigned back along with a set of new alloy wheels. There’s still no information about the changes in the cabin. However, a fully digital instrument cluster and other bits of changes are expected to be incorporated in the Nexon’s updated version to bring vehicle car at par with rivals like the Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue. Tata, in all probability, will offer new connected features in the Nexon facelift to attract the young crowd.

The powertrain of the new Tata Nexon is almost certainly to be BS-VI compliant for both its diesel and petrol engines. The current 1.2-litre petrol motor and the 1.5-litre diesel unit, produces 170Nm/110PS and 260Nm/110PS respectively. Both engines will be mated to a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, while a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) would be offered as an optional. The upgrade to the BS-VI standard may marginally change the powertrain output of the new Nexon. The current Nexon has a BS-IV engine.

The Tata Nexon facelift is likely to include a premium over the car’s current version which has an ex-showroom price of ₹11.00 lakh in Delhi. The car may be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo.
