Tata Lends Nexon Aesthetic Updates, Hikes Price

Leading Indian indigenous automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors has updated its Nexon compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) with several features. The upgrade was reportedly carried out based on customer feedback. All models of the Tata Nexon with diesel and petrol engine options, except the entry-level XE version, now sport the upgraded features. The company has also hiked the price of the car, even for the XE model. The Nexon series is now priced between ₹6.58 lakh to ₹10 lakh which was ₹6.50 lakh to ₹9.95 lakh earlier.

According to a document leaked by a leading automobile portal, the XZA+ and KZ+ models of the Tata Nexon now have an additional rear 12V power socket. The door-trim colours of these two models have been upgraded to piano black from satin chrome.The XZA+, XZ+, XZ, and XT versions of the Tata Nexon have added features like roof rails, and rear AC vents. The XZ, XT, XMA, and XM versions now sport a colour upgrade on the AC control panel, gear-shift knob, and the dashboard. The touchscreen infotainment system on the XT, XMA, and the XM models has also been upgraded with aesthetic changes. The length of the antenna in these three Nexon versions has been increased.

The Tata Nexon is hauled by a turbocharged 1,198cc Revotron petrol engine which produces 110PS maximum power at 5,500rpm and 170Nm peak torque. The 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine is available as an option. It outputs 110PS maximum power at 3,750rpm and 260Nm peak torque. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) system for the XZA+ and XMA versions, and a 6-speed manual gear system for the XZ, XT, XM, and XE models.

The Nexon is the only compact SUV in Tata’s portfolio. It competes with the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in its segment.
