Supercar of the Month - Lamborghini Aventador LP770-4 SVJ

  • Feb 21, 2019

The Aventador S from Lamborghini features a naturally aspirated V12 that puts out 740PS of max power and 690Nm of peak torque. Some might call that extreme. But those are not the good folks down at a certain car factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. Why you ask? Well, they went ahead and made the Aventador SVJ which was launched in India just last month. That naturally aspirated V12 now makes 770PS and of max power and 720Nm of peak torque.

What came out of all this, you ask? Well, a new lap record for production cars at the Nurburgring. A place that many consider to be the mecca of motorsport racing. A place that every car manufacturer that makes track-focused cars dreams of conquering. And currently it is Lamborghini who hold the bragging rights, courtesy of a 6:44:97-minute trip that Lamborghini factory driver Marco Mapelli took around the 20.6km track back in July 2018.

A big supercar like the Aventador SVJ has a lot of mad tech working for it but what is it that really sets it apart from the crowd? After all, the Aventador LP750-4 SV and the Aventador LP700-4 have been around the Nurburgring with times of 6:59:73 and 7:25:00, respectively. Well, the Aventador SVJ gets Lamborghini’s ALA 2.0 aerodynamics system which increases the downforce in the corners. The rear wing has also been optimised for smoother airflow.

Let’s talk numbers now, shall we? After all, this is a supercar and what is a supercar without some mind-blowing numbers. We already know the power and torque figures so let’s start off with the 0-100 time, which is 2.8 seconds. It will literally take you more time to say out the name of the car (Lamborghini Aventador LP770-4 Super Veloce Jota). And if that was not enough, you will have doubled that speed (0-200kmph) in just 8.6 seconds. And what is the top speed? We don’t know. Lamborghini has very nonchalantly said it will do more than 350kmph. How much more? Well, that is for you to find out -- if you don’t wet your pants in the process.

And if you are wondering how long it will take you to save up and get your hands on one, well, don’t think about it. The production run is limited to 900 units. By the time you will have saved up the dough to get your hands on one, you probably might be in adult diapers and Lamborghini will have built a road car that can make you experience intergalactic travel, right here on earth.
