Renault Triber Waiting Period Stretches To 3 Months

  • Sep 16, 2019

Renault India recently launched the Triber compact multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at a starting price of ₹4.95 lakh. The car is available in the RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ trims. The Triber comes with only one powertrain option. It is hauled by a 999cc petrol engine which produces 96Nm peak torque at 3,500rpm and 73PS maximum power at 6,250rpm. The 3-cylinder motor is paired with a 5-speed manual gear system. The company is likely to introduce an automated manual transmission (AMT) version of the car soon. The Triber reportedly returns a mileage of 20kmpl.

The car is almost readily available in cities like Thane, Surat, Mumbai, Patna, and Ghaziabad. The waiting period, meanwhile, has stretched to three months in Delhi. Buyers in cities like Jaipur, Indore, and Gurugram have to wait for a month to get the vehicle delivered. The waiting period for Bengaluru and Noida is two months, while that for Kolkata is 45 days.

All versions of the Renault Triber gets an LED digital instrument cluster, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) as standard. The higher trims get side airbags, second and third-row air-conditioning vents, and an 8-inch MediaNav touchscreen system.

Renault has equipped the Triber MPV with flexi-seating. The third row of seats can be fully detached to extract 625 litres of cargo space. With the third row in place, the car has 84 litres of boot space. With a single third-row seat, the boot space is 320 litres.

The Triber has no direct rival in the Indian car market. It may be considered as an alternative to midsized hatchback cars like the Ford Figo and Maruti Suzuki Swift. None of the two latter cars have a flexi-seating arrangement like the Triber. The Toyota Innova Crysta, and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 are more premium MPVs than the Triber.
