Leading French automobile manufacturer Renault has announced that it will open official bookings of the Triber crossover multipurpose vehicle (MPV) from 17 August. The car can be booked at the nearest Renault dealership or on the company’s official website for a token amount of ₹11,000. The Renault Triber is expected to command an ex-showroom price between ₹5 lakh to ₹7 lakh. The car is slated to launch on 28 August.

The Triber is expected to offer a number of segment-first features that include a second and completely removable third row. Both rows have dedicated air-conditioning vents. The car will also have an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an instrument console with LED illumination and a mini refrigerator. The car’s safety apparatus will include side airbags, and an antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) as standard.

The Renault Triber will be hauled by a 1.0-litre petrol engine which outputs 96Nm peak torque and 72PS maximum power. The three-cylinder motor is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox while an automated manual transmission (AMT) system will be offered as an option.

The Triber with manual transmission, according to Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), returns a mileage of 20kmpl. The AMT, on the other hand, offers a fuel efficiency of 20.5kmpl.

The Renault Triber, as of now, has no direct competitor in India. It will indirectly lock horns with midsized hatchbacks like the Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Renault is offering a range of accessories for the Triber that includes luggage racks, chrome garnishes, mats, and decals.
