Renault Teases Triber Ahead Of Launch

  • Jun 18, 2019

Leading French carmaker Renault has released a teaser image of its upcoming car Triber ahead of its official launch tomorrow. The Triber will be Renault’s latest vehicle in the sub-4m segment. The teaser image confirms that the car will have projector headlamps, roof rails, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). That aside, the Triber will have a chrome-studded front grille which is much on the lines of Renault’s other cars.

The Renault Triber would be based on the Kwid’s CMF-A platform. The Triber is expected to be hauled by Kwid’s 1.0-litre petrol motor which produces 68PS maximum power and 91Nm peak torque. The engine is expected to conform to the upcoming BS-VI emission standard and will be mated to a 5-speed manual gear system, while an automatic manual transmission (AMT) version is likely to be available as an option. A turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine is expected at a later stage.

Spy images of the Renault Triber suggest that the vehicle will have a dual-tone interior with silver and chrome accents, four airbags, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and 15-inch wheels.

The Triber is expected to command an ex-showroom price of ₹5.5 lakh for the entry-level model and ₹7 lakh for the top trim. The car, at such a price point, will be placed right between the Datsun GO+ and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga multipurpose vehicle (MPV). The two latter cars are priced between ₹3.86 lakh to ₹5.94 lakh and ₹7.44 lakh to ₹11.20 lakh respectively. Renault is trying to position the car as an alternative to premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, and the Honda Jazz. Renault has indicated that the Triber will have modular seating, which means that there will be a removable third or second row of seats.
