Renault Hikes Triber RXZ Price, MPV Now Gets Bigger Wheels

  • Nov 08, 2019

French carmaker Renault has hiked the price of the RXZ trim of the Triber multipurpose vehicle by ₹4,000. The model now commands an ex-showroom price of ₹6.53 lakh, which was ₹6.49 lakh earlier. The prices of the RXE, RXL, and the RXT versions of the Triber remain unchanged at ₹4.95 lakh, ₹5.49 lakh, and ₹5.99 lakh respectively.

The reason behind increasing the price of the Triber RXZ version is that the company has now lent bigger tyres to the model. The RXZ was previously fitted with 14-inch wheels, whereas it now gets 15-inch units. The top-level RXZ has 185/65 R15 cross-section tyres instead of the regular 185/80 R14 units.

The Renault Triber is fitted with a 1.0-litre petrol motor which produces 96Nm peak torque and 72PS maximum power. The 3-cylinder engine is mated to a 5-speel manual gearbox which is the only transmission option available on the car. A 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) system is expected to be introduced soon.

The Triber is a rather feature-loaded car in the Indian compact MPV segment. It comes with an 8.0-inch MediaNav touchscreen infotainment display system and air-conditioning vents for the second and third row. It also sports a digital instrument cluster. The car’s standard safety equipment comprises rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, and antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). The entire car has a modular seating arrangement.

The Renault Triber had no direct competitors in its class. It can be considered as an alternative to midsized hatchback cars like the Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift, and the Ford Figo and Freestyle.
