It's going to be an impatient Valentine's Day for Porsche lovers in India. The German sports car manufacturer will be bringing its latest 718 series Boxster and Cayman to India on Feb 15, 2017. The new 2017 model 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman were first unveiled in 2016.

Porsche has added the 718 moniker to its mid-engined two-seaters, Cayman and Boxster, which marks the return of the flat-four engines in place of the naturally-aspirated flat-sixes. The 718 tag pays homage to the Porsche 718 sports car of the '50s and '60s that made the company proud on racetracks.

The 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster now get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 300hp of maximum power and 380Nm of maximum torque. Both the cars have a rated top speed of 275kmph and will do a 0-100kmph in 5.1s with the 6-speed manual transmission and 4.7s with the Sport Chrono package with the 7-speed PDK 'box.

Besides the heart transplant, the 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster are also cosmetically enhanced and have a more muscular appearance now. The cars get Bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs as standard while LED headlamps are available as an optional extra. The 718s look wider than their predecessors from the rear as well thanks to the black strip at the rear connecting the tail-lamps.

The new 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster are new inside out with only the luggage compartment lids, the windshield and the convertible top taken from the previous model. Latest-gen Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a touchscreen is now a part of the standard equipment.
