Nissan India has commenced exports of the 'Made In India' Datsun GO+ to the South African market. The car is produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Oragadam, near Chennai. The company's plans to expand the global reach of cars made in India are further strengthened with the exports of the Datsun GO+. Nissan expects the Chennai plant to be a major contributor towards fulfilling prime minister's Make In India mission and contributing to the economy by offering employment in the region.

The production for the export-ready batch of the Datsun GO+ started on August 31, 2016, and is in full swing. About the fresh exports to South Africa, Guillaume Sicard, president of Nissan India Operations said:
We are delighted to see the Datsun GO+, manufactured with pride at the Renault-Alliance plant in Chennai, introduced for sale in South Africa. Following on the success of the India-built Datsun GO’s launch into the small car segment in South Africa, the GO+ is another example of our Make in India models’ making a mark in overseas markets. Our exports continue to help Nissan build its presence in India and grow the local economy.

The Oragadam plant has so far exported over 6.2 lakh cars to 106 countries since the operations started in 2010. The company also exports Datsun GO, redi-GO and Nissan Sunny from the plant. Sales of the newest kid, redi-GO, were also recently commenced in Nepal last July, which was followed by the launch of the Datsun brand in Sri Lanka in August.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance' Chennai plant has played an important role acting as the backbone for the two companies. The plant has a production capacity of 4.8 lakh cars per year and it enables employment of more than 40,000 people.

The launch of the GO+ in South Africa is another milestone for Nissan towards delivering India-made products to the international markets. The Datsun brand is expanding its range rapidly, in India and around the world, by making products that meet specific demands of each local market at an attractive price.
