The Nissan Micra has been the company's best-selling car in India ever since it was first introduced in 2010. Last year, the company added two CVT automatic variants to its Micra range that helped expand its customer base. Around 700 units of Micra were sold in the country last month. Now, the Japanese manufacturer has announced the reduced prices of the Micra CVT variants. The prices are slashed by up to Rs 54,000. The Micra CVT XL is now priced at Rs 5.99 lakh, making it the most affordable CVT automatic hatchback in the market. This price reduction is the result of increased local manufacturing. The Nissan Micra CVT will be produced at the company's Oragadam plant in Chennai. This hatchback features Nissan's globally-renowned X-TRONIC CVT automatic transmission that promises fun, comfort and practicality of an automatic and higher fuel efficiency than the manual transmission.

Making the announcement, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director – Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The Nissan Micra CVT brings new levels of technology, performance and style to the premium hatchback segment in India.
Its raft of practical features offers a safer, more enjoyable driving experience that raises the bar in this part of the market. What's more, the attractive price and impressive fuel economy makes it an even more compelling choice in terms of both driving pleasure and value for money.”
He added: “As Micra is produced right here in India, we are able to better serve the market in terms of faster, more efficient delivery and improved localization levels. This allows us to pass on these benefits to our customers in the form of a revised, even more competitive price for our popular premium hatchback.”

The Micra CVT is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 76PS of max power at 6000rpm and 104Nm of peak torque at 4000rpm. The fuel mileage of the Micra CVT is claimed to be 19.34Kmpl (ARAI figures).
