Next-Generation Hyundai Creta To Get Panoramic Sunroof, eSIM Connectivity Also Expected

  • Oct 30, 2019

The next-generation (2020) Hyundai Creta has been spotted again during one of its test runs. Images suggest that the car may get a panoramic sunroof like the unit offered in the China-specific Hyundai ix25.

The existing version of the Creta comes with a regular-sized electric sunroof. The Kia Seltos is the only other car in the segment to offer a similar sunroof. The Morris Garages (MG) Hector, however, offers a panoramic sunroof and is a competitor to the Creta at a similar price point. The 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to be unveiled at next year’s Auto Expo.

The next-generation Hyundai Creta will sport a cascading grille, flanked by split headlights. The recently launched Hyundai Venue has a similar front fascia. The new Creta will have LED daytime running lights (DRLs) with the main headlight unit placed slightly below it. The car’s interior is expected to have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display unit along with a multifunction steering wheel. The cabin could be more spacious compared to the existing version.

Also on the cards is an embedded eSIM to support internet connectivity, along with Hyundai BlueLink connected car technology. Other premium features like cruise control, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and up to six airbags are expected to be retained in the new model.

The next-generation Hyundai Creta will retain the same set of mechanicals. It will share the powertrain of Kia Seltos. The Seltos gets a choice of 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine. The engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), and a 6-speed automatic torque converter.

Sources suggest that the entry-level model of the 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to command an ex-showroom price of around ₹10 lakh. Besides the Kia Seltos and MG Hector, the car will continue to rival the Nissan Kicks, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Tata Harrier and the Renault Captur in its segment.
