Audi has announced that the new Audi A6 sedan will be launched in India on the 20th of August 2015. The launch follows the launches of R8 LMX coupe, new TT Coupe, RS7 Sportback facelift, new RS6 Avant and the Q3 compact luxury-SUV facelift. Audi had, at the beginning of the year, announced its plans to launch around 10 cars in the Indian market this calendar year, and the launch of the A6 sedan will mark the 6th launch from the brand in 2015.

Alert: New Audi A6 with Matrix LED headlamps has been launched!

There are some familiar and some unique things about the upcoming A6 sedan. The exterior styling has been revised to reflect the brand's new design philosophy which was first showcased via the 2014 Audi Prologue Concept. While the silhouette of the sedan remains unchanged, things like the headlights, front grille, front bumper, tail-lamps, chrome-strip on the boot-lid, rear bumper and tail-pipes are new. The headlight and tail-lamps are now sharper, the tail-pipes are now trapezoidal rather than oval, that's about it. If the redesign looks familiar to many of you, it is because the RS6 Avant looks fairly similar to the A6 sedan; it was launched in June 2015.

New interiors on the new Audi A6

In terms of interior design, the changes are limited to a new three-spoke steering wheel, new infotainment screen, redesigned MMI interface etc. There will a lot of new standard and optional equipment too, but we will have to wait a while before we a get a good idea of what those will be.

The powertrain options remain the same as before, and will be available either as the A6 35 TDI or the A6 35 TFSI. While the former will be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor developing 190PS as compared to 177PS earlier, while the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor develops 180PS which is the same as before. Both the engines are mated to multritronic CVT transmissions with power sent to the front wheels. It is not known if Audi will offer the quattro AWD system on the new A6, we will have to wait and see.
