Leading British automobile manufacturer Morris Garages (MG), which is slated to make its India debut on 15 May with the Hector, has started the production of the sports utility vehicle (SUV). A new teaser video released by MG, shows the Hector being produced at the company’s Halol workshop in Gujarat.

The video takes viewers through the manufacturing process of the new SUV. It shows the car’s chassis, construction of the body, and fitting of the powertrain and dashboard. The video also reveals the colours of the new MG car. This includes white, grey, red, and deep purple. The teaser, for the first time, shows that the car is also going to be available in a black paint scheme.

The Hector, according to the video, will have an all-black interior theme. The company, earlier at a dealer meet, had revealed a black and beige two-tone interior theme for the car. However, the two-tone theme is likely to be seen in one of the higher versions of the Hector. The big 10.4-inch infotainment screen can be seen fixed at the centre of the car’s dashboard.

Apart from the infotainment screen which supports internet connectivity, music streaming, and live weather updates from AccuWeather, the Hector is equipped with a 360-degree parking camera, a panoramic sunroof, dynamic turn indicators, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The SUV is going to be offered in two engine options. These include a 2.0-litre, Fiat-made diesel engine, and a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol motor, paired to mild-hybrid 48V technology.

The MG Hector, according to industry observers, is going to be available in three models. The price of the entry-level version is expected to be around INR15 lakh. The Hector, when launched, will face competition from Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson, and the Tata Harrier in its class and price point.
