More Than 13,000 Mahindra XUV300 Booked Already

  • Mar 15, 2019

It’s been only a month since Mahindra launched the new sub-4m SUV, the XUV300 in the country and it has already bagged 13,000 bookings. The XUV300 was launched in February at a starting price of Rs 7.90 lakh which goes up to Rs 11.99 lakh for the top-spec variant (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). This clearly indicates the rising interest of buyers in sub-compact SUVs. However, it’s not evident that if the automaker has included the pre-booking number of around 4,000 in the above-mentioned figure.

Mahindra has registered a sale of 4,484 units of the XUV300 in February, which is a decent number to kick things off in a segment where Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon are popular. Talking about the sales drop in the competition camp due to the arrival of a new contestant, the Brezza February sales have seen a dip of over 1,500 units as compared to its sales in January. However, the Tata Nexon, on the other hand, has registered 5,263 sales in February that is 168 units more than its January sales figure of 5,095 units, which is impressive.

From the last five years, the compact SUV segment is the fastest growing auto segment, accounting for 40% of the entire SUV segment of the country. The chief of sales and marketing at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Veejay Ram Nakra said, “We are extremely happy with the overwhelming response to the XUV300. In a highly competitive segment such as the Compact SUV, we have received over 13,000 bookings and in the very first month itself, we have entered into the top 3. This is in-line with our objective of achieving 15 to 20% share of this segment.”

Mahindra XUV300 has certainly made a thumping entrance in the market despite strong rivals and higher price tag. It will be interesting to see buyers’ response in the coming months. However, if you wish to buy the XUV300 now, then be ready for a long waiting period. This could be around two months or even more.

The XUV300 comes with two engine choices, 1.2-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel, both mated to only a manual transmission. There are four variants to choose from, W4, W6, W8 and W8(O). Aside from the Brezza and Nexon, the XUV300 locks horns with Ford Freestyle, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V in the Indian market.
