The India-specific version of the Morris Garages (MG) ZS electric vehicle (EV) is all set to be unveiled in India in December. A video of the upcoming car now suggests that it will have an inbuilt air purification system. The ZS EV is already being sold in China, UK, and other countries.

The climate control function of the ZS electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) has an inbuilt particulate matter (PM) 2.5 air filter and the video demonstrates the effectiveness of the gadget. In the UK-specific version of the ZS EV, the filter is available only in the top-level Exclusive trim.

Currently, the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Venue, and a few other cars have an inbuilt air purification system.

MG debuted in the Indian automobile market earlier this year with the Hector midsized SUV. The ZS EV will be the leading British manufacturer’s second product in India. The ZS has already been spotted being tested in India and the car’s trial production commenced at the company’s Halol plant in Gujarat in June. MG has reportedly adopted the completely knocked down (CKD) strategy to keep production costs under check.

The all-electric MG ZS measurers 1,809mm in width, 1,620mm in height, and 4,314mm in length. It’s larger than Hyundai Kona which is currently the only long-range passenger car available in India. The ZS EV is likely to come with a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery and a 150bhp motor. The car, according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Procedure (WLTP), can run up to 262km on a single charge. MG claims that the charging time for the all-electric ZS is seven hours using a standard 7kW AC charger. The car can be recharged from 0-80 percent through a 50kW fast charger.

The ZS electric car is likely to be offered in a single top-level trim in India. It is expected to be pegged at around ₹25 lakh.
