MG Hector SUV launch is not very far. Slated to launch in June this year, the Hector will be offering much more than our expectations. Aside from the regular comfort and convenience features that a modern-day SUV comes with, the Hector SUV will be offered with eSIM connectivity. What this means is that it will have an in-built internet connectivity feature with an avant-garde operating system. The MG Hector SUV will be the first mass-market car to feature in-built internet connectivity in the country.

The Morris Garages Hector will come with IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6), which is the latest to be available in the framework category. The software will be updated remotely over the air (OTA). This means that customers won’t require to visit the service station for minor software updates. The framework will provide real-time car health to the driver. According to the automaker, the feature-loaded SUV will provide personalised connected experience on the fronts like multimedia, applications, navigation, and transactions.

Some of the notable features that the Hector is likely to get on the outside are LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a panoramic sunroof. While on the inside, it is expected to come with a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a tablet-like screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and voice command system. Additionally, there will be a 7-inch fully-digital instrument cluster with TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) that will show temperature readings for individual tyres.

Under the hood, the MG Hector will feature the Fiat-borrowed 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission system. This engine can be found in the current-gen Jeep Compass. Apart from this, the automaker will be launching the SUV with a petrol engine. Developed in-house, the Hector will feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a max power of 143PS and a peak torque of 250Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission).

Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Hector will challenge the likes of the Jeep Compass, the Tata Harrier and the Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market.
