  • Feb 15, 2016
For the first time ever in its history, Mercedes-Benz is developing cabriolet based on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The C-Class Cabriolet will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show that will thrown open to public on March 1.
Mercedes-Benz revealed few sketches of the C-Class cabriolet through their official social media handles and it looks quite similar to the recently launched S-Class Cabriolet. The new car will be based extensively on the C-Class platform that will mean that the new car gets almost identical interiors and features plus the Mercedes’ trademark AIRCARF neck-level heating and AIRCAP air-deflection system to keep the occupants as comfortable as possible inside the car.

The C-Class cabriolet will take on the likes of BMW 4-Series but will not feature metal folding roof. To save boot space and weight, it will feature a fabric roof.
The C-Class cabriolet will also see similar engines that are plonked into the Coupe. There will be regular turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol and diesel options along with the massive AMG engine from the C63 that is V8 with 4.0-litre displacement. The engine can develop earth moving 503 horsepower along with 700 Nm of maximum torque and can do 0 to 100 in around 4 seconds.
The C-Class cabriolet will have space for four people and will be competitively priced. It will also become the cheapest cabriolet from Mercedes replacing the current cheapest offering - E-Class cabriolet. The E-Class cabriolet is not due for an update till next year and till then, the cabriolet based on the C-Class will have enough time to flourish in the market.
