Mercedes-Benz has launched the first "Sports Tourer" in India. The B-Class comes to India in the form of the B180 with a petrol engine at its heart. The launch of the new car follows the entry of the next-generation M-Class SUV in India. The B-Class is the first premium five-door hatchback to be offered in two variants- 'B180 Sport' and 'B180'. That said, we expect the other two German brands to follow the footsteps of Mercedes-Benz in the days and months to come. Priced at Rs.21.49 lakh for the base and Rs.24.87 lakh for the Sport variant. the B-Class seems a really good buy given the kit it packs and of course the three-pointed star on the hood!
The B180 BlueEfficiency is powered by a 1.6 litre in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine with 121 horsepower on tap. 200 Nm of torque is produced all the way from as low as 1250 rpm up to 4000 rpm. Harnessing the power is a 7G-DCT 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift known for its quick and seamless shifts. Thanks to the tricked-out gearbox 100 km/h comes up in just over 10.2 seconds. The car does a top whack of 190 kph. Auto start-stop allows the car to return an impressive fuel efficiency of 14.81 km/lt. As far as the feature list is concerned, the car packs-in all the latest from the Mercedes-Benz closet.
