Mercedes-Benz has launched the power-packed AMG C 43 sedan in India at Rs 74.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The C 43 is Mercedes-Benz' 13th product launch in 2016 and 11th AMG in India line-up.

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 sedan is brought in India as a CBU and is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Two turbochargers together develop 520Nm of maximum torque and race the C 43 past the 100 mark comfortably in under 5 seconds. C 43's 0-100kmph sprint is respectable considering the mighty Rs 1.30 Cr Mercedes-AMG C 63 S with a 4.0-litre V8 motor plonked under its hood achieves the same feat in 4 seconds.

For those willing to reach their destinations in a close second, you'll be glad to know that nothing besides the 43 moniker sets your C apart from its big brother. Importantly, only someone in an Audi S5 or something over this class will be able to catch-up and spot the detail.

The C 43 is packed with high-tech Merc gadgetry like the 4MATIC all-wheel drive setup and the AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension that forms the basic ammo to qualify for the Ah My God league. The 372PS engine can take the C 43 to an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

The C 43 is a legit rival to the Audi S5 which is priced at Rs 66.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Audi's petrol engine also displaces 3.0-litres by volume and makes 347PS of maximum power. Lack of outright power and 120 kgs more on the weighing scale makes the Audi slower to 100kmph than the C 43 (4.7 seconds for 0-100kmph) by 0.4s.

In comparison, the BMW's M3 is a brute. It smashes the 100kmph mark in 4.1 seconds despite being powered by a 3.0-litre petrol engine. BMW has managed to extract 437PS of maximum power and 550Nm of maximum torque from the engine putting the M3 straight into the C 63 S territory on paper. At Rs 1.25 Cr (ex-showroom, Delhi), the M3 almost costs twice as much as the S5 and rightly falls in the C 63 S price range.

The C 43 bridges the gap between the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and C 63 S in India. The CLA 45 is priced at Rs 70.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the introduction of the C 43, Mercedes-AMG's performance sedan segment in India now comprises of four cars: the CLA 45, the C 43, the C 63 S and the S 63.
