New DZire

Maruti Suzuki will soon replace its existing compact sedan, the Swift DZire. The new DZire is built on the new Swift's platform, which should be here in India later this year or in early 2018. Production of the new DZire has begun, and you may have already seen it sans any camouflage. A new set of images of the DZire's interior are doing rounds online, and like the exteriors, the interiors have gone for a full overhaul.

The interiors of the new DZire are inspired from the new Swift, but it will continue to come with a dual-tone black-beige interior setup. Like the current Swift, the new one should also sport all-black interiors. The recent images reveal that the new DZire may come with faux wooden inserts on the dashboard and the steering wheel on the top variant.

The steering wheel seems to have been carried over from the new Swift and is a flat-bottom unit. However, Maruti Suzuki may offer it only on select variants. The images appear to be those of the fully loaded DZire as you see the steering wheel with leather upholstery and touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features that the images reveal are automatic climate control and automatic headlamps on/off (on the right stalk behind the steering wheel).

The images here are also of the DZire automatic. Maruti Suzuki currently offers both the petrol and diesel DZire with an auto box, though the diesel version gets an AMT. The car in question appears to be a petrol unit, which means that the new DZire will also get an auto box with the petrol engine, apart from the manual transmission. The instrument console of the new DZire is also different compared to any of the recent Marutis like the Ignis and the Baleno.

The images suggest that the production of the new DZire has started, which means that the launch should be near. It will compete in the compact segment with the upcoming Hyundai Xcent facelift (which will launch in April 2017), the Ford Figo Aspire, the Honda Amaze, the recently launched Tata Tigor and the VW Ameo.
