The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is one of the top-selling four-wheel commodities not only in the Indian automobile market as a whole but also for Maruti Suzuki. Ever since its inception, which was then followed by a refreshed model in January, earlier this year, the arch-rival of the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Ford Figo, and others has been selling like hotcakes. Banking upon the success tasted by the premium hatchback in the country, Maruti Suzuki launched a peppier and sportier variant of the hatch in the form of Baleno RS. However, because of the antagonistic winds in the automobile market and a low amount of interest shown by the Indians masses in the Baleno RS, Maruti Suzuki has announced to cut the price down of the hatchback by ₹ 1 lakh.

So, if the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is what you are planning to purchase in the ongoing festive season, you might just want to have a decent look at the Baleno RS as well. The sporty version of the premium hatchback should now fit your bill quite well. Originally priced at ₹ 8.89 lakh at the time of its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS can now be yours for just ₹ 7.89 lakh. The cut in the price of one of the best-selling hatches puts it alongside the Alpha petrol variant of the standard Baleno, which retails for around ₹ 8.66 lakh.

Talking about the uniquities of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, the sportier avatar of the hatchback is different than the regular Baleno both aesthetically and mechanically. In terms of its appearance, the Baleno RS packs in a much aggressive stance courtesy of an exclusive front grille and air dam which sport a honeycomb pattern. Moreover, a new front bumper that comes equipped with a larger central air dam and bigger than standard fog lamps housings also contribute to the hatchback's sporty looks. The rest of the exterior remains similar to the standard Baleno and features LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, and much more.

On the inside, there is a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, auto-dimming IRVM, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver seat, multi-function steering wheel with tilt & telescopic adjustment, and other creature comforts. Under the hood of the much peppy Baleno RS is a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine churning out 102PS of top power output and a peak torque of 175Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox channels the power to the front wheels. On the safety front, the sporty Baleno RS comes equipped with the likes of dual front SRS airbags, rear disc brakes for enhanced braking performance, ABS with EBD, high-speed warning, ISOFIX child seat mounts, driver and front passenger seatbelt reminder, and rear parking sensors with a reverse camera.
