Mahindra Opens XUV 300 Diesel AMT Bookings

  • Jul 02, 2019

Mahindra & Mahindra has unofficially opened the pre-launch bookings of the upcoming automated manual transmission (AMT) model of the compact XUV300 sports utility vehicle (SUV). The car will be available in the W8 and W8(O) models and can be booked for a token amount of ₹20,000. The lower W4 and W6 versions of the car are unlikely to get the AMT.

The XUV 300 diesel AMT is expected to be launched later this week. Some of the Mahindra dealerships across India have started accepting the bookings. A few dealers have confirmed that the new car will be put up for display and can be taken for test drives in the next two days. The current waiting period of the vehicle is about 6-8 weeks. The XUV300 AMT, according to industry sources, will be available in Pearl White, Aquamarine, and Red Rage colour schemes.

The Mahindra XUV300 diesel car is hauled by a 1.5-litre motor which produces 117PS maximum power and 300Nm peak torque. The 4-cylinder engine will be mated to a 6-speed AMT. The XUV300’s diesel engine has been borrowed from the Mahindra Marazzo. The company may introduce a more powerful petrol-AMT version of XUV300 later this year. The current petrol XUV300 is hauled by a turbocharged 1.5-litre motor which outputs 110PS maximum power and 200Nm peak torque. The XUV300, as claimed by Mahindra, returns a mileage of around 20.0kmpl.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV300 diesel is all set to be the most expensive AMT car in the compact SUV segment. The vehicle may command a premium of ₹50,000-60,000 over its corresponding version which has a manual gear system. The XU300 diesel commands an ex-showroom price between ₹8.49 lakh to ₹ 11.99 lakh.

The Mumbai-headquartered company is also reportedly planning an all-electric model of the XUV300. The car could be launched in 2020.
