The production version of the Lexus NX compact SUV has been teased ahead of its world premiere at the upcoming Auto China, popularly called as Bejing Auto Show, on April 20.
The car was previewed at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of LF-NX Concept. The LF-NX adopts the firm's latest L-Finesse design philosophy (hence the name of the design study) which is characterized by a prominent "spindle" grill, sharp and narrow headlamps, LED daytime running strips and flared wheel arches.
Going by the teaser, the production version of the compact SUV inherits all the salient features of the concept. The sculpted body work and razor sharp ORVMs are clearly visible and we expect the rest of the car too to tread along the path of the design concept. Expect the SUV to have an aggressive stance with a tight fitting roofline, not nearly as aggressive as the concept though.
The Chinese media report that Lexus has filed trademark rights for NX 200t and NX 300h which means we can expect two powertrain options. Going by Lexus' nomenclature pattern, the 200t could be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor while the 300h could get a 2.5-litre petrol motor supported by a hybrid system, just like the ES 300h.
The Lexus NX's perceived rivals would be the Range Rover Evoque, Audi Q3 and the like. More details about the product will come to light when the veil comes officially comes of at the Auto China.
