The Tigor automatic is available in only XT and XZ variants but not with the fully-loaded XZ(O)

Tata Tigor

Tata has finally blessed the Tigor with an automatic transmission. The petrol-powertrain of the compact sedan is now available with a 5-speed AMT and a price tag of Rs 5.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the XTA trim and Rs 6.22 lakh for the XZA variant. That's a premium of ~Rs 40,000 over equivalent options packing three pedals and a manual transmission.

Unfortunately, the top-of-the-line XZ(O) is not invited to the 'automatic party' so you'll have to choose between extra features and the convenience of not having to deal with the clutch and gears. Compared to the XZ/XZA, the XZ(O) trim offers a 5-inch colour display, full navigation maps, reversing camera and climate control. The XZ and XT also get turn-by-turn navigation on the monotone display, but can't display full-colour maps.

The Tata Tigor went on sale earlier this year and it looks unique among its peers. The roof gets a coupe-ish treatment as it gets closer to the boot, which makes it stand out and appear pleasing from the side. From the rear, though, it looks like a blend of a hatchback and a three-box sedan.

The Tigor is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.05-litre diesel engine. Both the engines come paired with a 5-speed transmission, which seems to be geared on the taller side to deliver better efficiency. The petrol engine promises 20.3kmpl while the diesel mill delivers 24.7kmpl as per ARAI tests.

The petrol variants of the Tigor are priced between Rs 4.65 lakh and Rs 6.22 lakh. The diesel line starts at Rs 5.5 lakh and stretches up to Rs 6.96 lakh.
