On the outside, the Ford EcoSport gets a new front grille, bumpers, fog lamp housing, projector headlamps and a new set of alloy wheels. The EcoSport facelift continues to sport the spare wheel on its boot lid in India.

As far as dimensions are concerned, the length and width are almost unchanged. However, boot space has slightly increased from 346 litres to 352 litres. The luggage space, with all seats down, has increased considerably and gone up from 705 litres to 1178 litres.

The EcoSport gets a thorough overhaul on the inside with an all-black cabin and redesigned dashboard. All the variants get a music system with at least four speakers. The top two trims get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system while the Trend and Trend+ settle with a 6.5-inch touchscreen. Except for the base trim, all variants benefit from the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with climate control. ABS, dual airbags and a steering adjustable for reach and rake are available across the range. The top variant also gets four extra airbags along with cruise control, reversing camera, automatic wipers, automatic headlamps, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, keyless entry with push-button start and rear armrest.

Ford-EcoSport-5

On the powertrain side, the EcoSport gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, retains the 1.5-litre diesel engine and ditches the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo motor. The new petrol motor makes 123PS of power and 150Nm of torque and is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel engine still makes a healthy 100PS of power and 205Nm of torque and is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. According to ARAI, the petrol motor delivers 17kmpl with the manual transmission and 14.8kmpl with the automatic while the diesel provides a mileage of 23kmpl.

The Ford EcoSport faces stiff competition from the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and the Hyundai i20 Active in the sub-compact SUV and crossover segment.
