The latest 330i GT in this M Sport trim now becomes the top-spec variant in the entire 3 Series lineup

BMW has launched the 330i Gran Turismo in M Sport trim for an ex-showroom price of Rs 49.4 lakh. That makes it the most expensive 3 Series in India. The latest addition brings the number of petrol-powered 3 Series GT variants to two and the total count to three.

Just like the 3 Series petrol variants, the M Sport GT runs on a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 252PS of power at 5200rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1450 and 4800rpm offering strong and steady acceleration covering most of the rev band. The 330i employs the same 8-speed automatic transmission as the 320d variants, and it sends the power to the rear wheels. This combination delivers a 0-100kmph acceleration figure of 6.1 seconds.

On the technology front, the M Sport gets cruise control with brake function, which can maintain speed even when you're traversing a series of inclines and declines. Other features of this top trim GT include M styling on the key fob, M badges on front side panels, an aero package with a front apron, side skirts and rear apron, exhaust finished in high-gloss chrome and a unique set of 18-inch alloy wheels with a star-spoke pattern. The 330i GT M Sport is available only in two colours: white and a lighter shade of blue called Estoril Blue.

As the name suggests, this is the Gran Turismo (Italian for Grand Tourer) flavour of the fun-to-drive 3 Series. That means it's meant for those who live on the highways. A larger cabin and storage volume in the boot makes it the default choice for mile munching as it doesn't face direct competition from other luxury carmakers. It's also a stylish alternative to the ubiquitous three-box 3 Series as its sloping roofline allows it to stand out on the crowded streets.
