A5 Cabriolet: Rs 67.51 lakh

S5 Sportback: Rs 70.6 lakh

The A5 Sportback offers a coupe-ish spin instead of a conventional three-box design. The A5 Sportback packs a familiar 2.0-litre diesel engine and just like the other two cars from the Bratpack; it's available in only one variant. The power output of this mill stands at 190PS while the peak torque is rated at 400Nm. Both of these numbers are on par with the pricier A6. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is standard with the A5 regardless of the stiffness of the roof. The A5's 4-door configuration allows it to retain the practicality of a sedan while also offering a distinct style for the price.

With an ex-showroom tag of Rs 54.02 lakh, it competes against the BMW 3 Series GT, another unique car from a German manufacturer. The Bimmer, though, is available with a petrol as well as a diesel mill.

Audi A5 Cabriolet

The A5 Cabriolet is the convertible version of the A5 Sportback, and its soft top can be retracted or fully stretched at speeds of up to 50kmph with the push of a button. However, it's a slow affair as the motors take 15 seconds to retract it and 18 seconds to stretch the roof for times when the weather isn't perfect. Unlike the A5 Sportback, the A5 Cabriolet prioritises style and skips on the two rear doors. The performance remains similar to the Sportback as the Cabriolet shares its 2.0-litre diesel powertrain and transmission with its hardtop cousin. Unlike the A5 Sportback, the convertible benefits from an all-wheel-drive setup that helps it accelerate from 0-100kmph in 7.8 seconds; a tenth of a second faster than the hardtop brat.

The A5 Cabriolet goes up against the Mercedes-Benz C300 Cabriolet, which is available with a petrol engine.

Audi S5 Sportback looks similar to the A5 and retains its four doors. It's the sportiest of the three, though, but not crazy enough to earn the RS badge. It packs a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol motor churning out 354PS of power and 500Nm of torque. The S5 Sportback gets a sturdy 8-speed conventional automatic, which sends power to all four wheels for the extra grip. Thanks to the hardware advantages, the S5 can sprint to 100kmph from standstill in 4.7 seconds.

At Rs 70.6 lakh, the S5 takes the fight to the Mercedes-AMG C43 and the ageing Volvo S60 Polestar. While the AMG also packs a 3.0-litre V6, the Volvo is able to squeeze matching performance out of a smaller 2.0-litre motor with the help of a turbocharger and a supercharger. The Volvo has fewer cylinders and less displacement, but also a huge price advantage as it costs just Rs 53.1 lakh (ex-showroom).
