Korean automobile major Kia Motors, which recently entered the Indian market with the Seltos compact sports utility vehicle (SUV), will open both offline and online bookings of the car from 16 July. The company has already informed its dealers in this regard. The Seltos is slated to officially debut on 22 August.

A number of Kia dealers are currently accepting fully refundable pre-bookings for ₹25,000. Reports suggest that the dealers will get the display and test-drive vehicle later this month or in the first week of August. While Kia has not revealed the price of the Seltos, the vehicle is likely to be pegged between ₹11 lakh to ₹17 lakh.

The Seltos will be available in both diesel and petrol engine options.

The 1.4-litre turbocharged T-GDI petrol motor in the Seltos GT-Line version will output 140bhp and 242Nm peak torque. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual gear system or a 7-speed automatic dual clutch transmission (DCT). The naturally aspirated, four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine will be mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the 1.5-litre diesel motor will have a 6-speed torque converter system. The Seltos will come equipped with Eco, Sport, and Normal drive-select options. All three engines of the Kia Seltos will comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission standard.

Major features in the Seltos include built-in eSIM technology, head-up display, ventilated front seats, a 7-inch colour multi-information display (MID) unit, built-in air purifier system with air monitoring display, traction control (TC), electronic stability programme (ESP), powered driver seat, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, and up to six airbags depending upon the model.

Kia is targeting 265 touchpoints across 160 cities by the time of Seltos’ launch. The company plans to have 300 and 350 touchpoints by 2020 and 2021 respectively. The Seltos will be a direct rival of the Morris Garages (MG) Hector, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Harrier, and the Hyundai Creta.
