Kia SP Signature Production-Version Showcased At Seoul Motor Show

  • Mar 28, 2019

The South Korean automaker is all set to enter the Indian car market with an SUV based on the SP Concept. Kia had revealed the concept at last year’s Auto Expo in Delhi and now it has showcased the production version of the same at the Seoul Motor Show. The SUV is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2019.

The design of the production-ready SUV looks similar to its concept and like the orange concept displayed last year, Kia showcased the orange coloured SUV at the Seoul Motor Show. The SUV gets black ORVMs, black roof and several production-spec parts like sleek DRLs, front and rear bumpers and door handles. Additionally, it gets new alloys, which are different from the ones spied earlier on the camouflaged SP2i (17-inch alloys). The DRL which was positioned on the top of the SP concept has also been removed.

The interiors of the SUV are yet to be revealed by the automaker. However, considering the one seen on the SP concept, Kia is likely to integrate a fairly big infotainment system, which would connect the car’s instrument cluster, similar to the one seen on various Mercedes-Benz cars. Expect a brown-black dual-tone colour scheme inside the cabin along with a two-spoke steering wheel.

The Kia SUV is likely to be launched in September this year and expected to be called the Tusker or the Trailster. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). To be offered with both engine options, petrol as well as diesel, the Kia SP Signature-based SUV will compete against the likes of the Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Renault Captur and Renault Duster in India.
