Kia Motors officially began its India operations yesterday at Mumbai by launching the Seltos midsized sport utility vehicle (SUV). The car commands a rather aggressive entry-level price of ₹9.69 lakh. It will be sold in six engine-transmission combinations. Kia has claimed that the Seltos has already received 35,000 bookings. The car will now be launched in Delhi.

The Kia Seltos measures 4,315mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,620mm in height, making it a wider and longer car than the Hyundai Creta. It sports the signature Kia tiger-nosed grille in the front, flanked by automatic headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The LED lights at the back are connected by a chrome strip, which features the Kia logo. The car has two interior colour options.

The Seltos GT Line is the sportier of the two versions, with red stitching and an all-black theme, The Tech Line trim, on the other hand, is more luxurious which has hexagonal pattern beige seats.

Buyers can choose from the three BS-VI engine options available on the Seltos. The 1,497cc petrol motor outputs 114bhp at 6,300rpm and 144Nm peak torque at 4,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gear system with the optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). The direct injection 1,353cc petrol engine, on the other hand, produces 138bhp at 6,000rpm and 242Nm peak torque between 1,500-3,200rpm. The turbocharged engine is paired with either an automatic, 7-speed dual clutch transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1,493cc diesel motor, on its part, produces 113bhp at 4,000rpm and 250Nm peak torque at 1,500-2,750rpm. The motor is mated to a 6-speed manual gear system as standard.

The top-level Seltos is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other major features include the Kia UVO Connect system, in-car air purifier, a head-up display unit, cruise control, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree parking camera. The safety apparatus comprises up to six airbags, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, electronic stability control, blind-spot view monitor, and rear and front parking sensors.

The Seltos will be sold through 265 Kia touchpoints across 160 cities. The company is offering a 3-year/unlimited km warranty on the Seltos with an optional 2-year extension.
