Kia Seltos GT-Line Petrol And Diesel AT Prices Likely Soon

  • Aug 23, 2019

South Korean automobile major Kia Motors debuted in India yesterday with the launch of the Seltos. The midsized sports utility vehicle commands an introductory ex-showroom price between ₹9.69 lakh to ₹15.99 lakh. The car is being sold in the GT Line and Tech Line trims, in 18 variants and powertrain options.

The 1,497cc diesel motor is common to both the GT Line and Tech Line, while the petrol options vary. The Tech Line gets a naturally aspirated 1,497cc petrol engine, while the GT Line has a turbocharged 1,353cc unit. All three Seltos engines are BS-VI compliant and come in different transmission combinations. The diesel gets a 6-speed torque convertor, while the 1,497cc petrol motor has a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The 1,353cc engine has an automatic 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).

Kia, however, is yet to reveal the prices of the top-level GTX+ version in both diesel and petrol engines with automatic transmission (AT). The GTX+ is currently available only with a 1,353cc petrol motor with DCT. But Kia dealers have started accepting bookings for both the unannounced cars. Both trims are expected to be pegged at an introductory price tag of ₹16.99 lakh. In any case, both the new versions are likely to come at a premium over the most expensive trim of the Hyundai Creta which has an ex-showroom price tag of ₹15.67 lakh.

Kia has claimed that bookings for the Seltos have already crossed 35,000 units. The GTX+ diesel-AT would lock horns with the Tata Harrier and Morris Garages (MG) Hector. None of the two latter vehicles currently offer a diesel-AT combination. The top-level petrol-AT version of the Seltos will directly rival the same powertrain of the Hector which currently has an ex-showroom price of ₹16.78 lakh.

The entire Kia Seltos range has a number of segment-first features that most of its rivals don’t have.
