Kia Introduces Top-Level Seltos GTX+ Petrol DCT And Diesel AT

  • Sep 10, 2019

South Korean automobile major Kia Motors, based on customer feedback, has silently introduced two top-level trims of the Seltos midsized sports utility vehicle (SUV). The GTX+ petrol version comes with a 1.4-litre motor paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The GTX+ diesel trim, on the other hand, is hauled by a 1.5-litre engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This means that buyers will be able to purchase a Seltos GT Line diesel version but only with an AT.

Both new models command an ex-showroom price of ₹16.99 lakh which includes a ₹1 lakh premium over the GTX petrol version with dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and the HTX+ AT. The latter trims were the erstwhile top-level versions of the Kia Seltos.

Dealer sources had earlier confirmed that the company was readying the two new top-level models at the time of the car’s official launch.

The India-specific Kia Seltos is available in the HT Line and GT Line. The former is a bit on the conventional side, while the GT Line is a sportier version with red exterior accents, an all-black interior, and contrasting red stitching. The GTX+ trims come with front parking sensors, a standard sunroof, Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera. The entire GT Line gets rain-sensing wipers, up to six airbags, and an 8.0-inch head-up display (HUD) unit as standard.

At the launch of the Seltos, Kia had announced the prices of 16 variants of the car, spread across a number of engine-transmission combinations. The top-level GTX+ version still missed an AT option and was available only with a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol motor mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Bookings for the Seltos GTX+ petrol DCT and diesel AT has already commenced. Sources in Kia have revealed that deliveries are expected to begin early next month.
