Jeep Launches 2019 Wrangler, Diesel Option Not On Offer

  • Aug 10, 2019

American automobile manufacturer Jeep has launched the new generation Wrangler sports utility vehicle (SUV) in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹63.94 lakh. The car will be available in its five-door avatar and in the top-specification Sahara version only. The previous version of the Wrangler was introduced in 2017.

Styling changes in the new car include larger taillights and rear windscreen, lowered beltline, headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and a tweaked version of Jeep’s iconic seven-slat front grille. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel now has a lower positioning to aid better rear visibility.

The new Jeep Wrangler will be hauled by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor which outputs 268PS maximum power and 400Nm peak torque. The four-cylinder engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission (AT) system. The engine being offered is BS-IV standard though the Fiat Chrysler owned company has claimed that a BS-VI compliant version will be introduced soon. The car is equipped with Jeep’s Selec-Trac all-wheel-drive system. No diesel motor will be available in the new Wrangler.

The 2019 Jeep Wrangler has an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 7.0-inch multi-information display (MID), ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, rear air-conditioning vents, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and 12V sockets and USB ports. The infotainment system displays a variety of information related to off-road driving that includes the steering wheel’s angle, axle status, and the car’s longitude, latitude, and altitude. The roll and pitch angles are also displayed.

The safety features of the new Wrangler comprise dual airbags, electronic roll mitigation, hill-start assist, and traction control. Antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBS) is available as standard. The car’s steering wheel has cruise control and automatic engine start-stop function.

The new Jeep Wrangler currently has no competitors in its segment in the Indian market.
