Jeep India Recalls The Compass

  • Feb 27, 2019

Jeep has announced a Compass recall for an engine software update. The company further shed light on the issue stating that a PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software needs to be updated. Launched in 2017, the Jeep Compass is a mid-size SUV available in mutiple powertrain and drivetrain options. However, the recall is only for the 2WD models powered by diesel-manual.

From the official statement, it came to light that the update is required to correct product variations that may exceed the threshold value for particulate matter emissions in some vehicles. The company also confirmed that there is no need for a hardware correction and the issue can be solved in a matter of 15 minutes by simply updating the related software.

If you are wondering which model year Compass is being recalled, then it is for the Compass manufactured between 18 Dec 2017 and 18 Nov 2018. The Jeep dealership outlets across the country will soon start to call its customers for scheduling an appointment. Jeep is already working on updating the software for models in the dealer stockyards. This is to offer future customers a hassle-free and pleasant buying experience.

In India, Jeep has a fleet of three cars, including the Compass, the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. The company has plans to launch the Trailhawk variant of the Jeep Compass in the country that comes with an automatic transmission coupled with a diesel power mill. We still have to hear and know details about it from the company. Stay tuned with us for more regarding the same and new automotive updates.
