Despite the Indian automobile industry witnessing a major slump in sales over the past several months, manufacturers are pulling all stops to introduce new cars at an amazing regularity. While Morris Garages (MG) recently entered the Indian market, Korean carmaker Kia will make its debut with the Seltos. At least four new vehicles from leading manufacturers are expected to be officially launched this week.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

The Nios is the third generation car in the i10 lineage and is expected to be a premium midsized hatchback. It will be available in both diesel and petrol engine options. The car will be introduced in the Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz Dual Tone and Asta versions. The current Grand i10 will be sold alongside the new car.

Launch: 20 August

Expected Price: ₹5.2 lakh to ₹8 lakh

Maruti Suzuki XL6

The Indo-Japanese carmaker is branding the XL6 as India’s first multipurpose vehicle (MPV), to be sold through the company’s Nexa dealerships. The XL6 will be based on the Ertiga and will come only with a petrol motor. The car will have all-round LED lights, and a premium cabin with leatherette upholstery. The XL6 will be a six-passenger car having second row captain seats. It will be available in the Alpha and Zeta variants. Both models will be available with a manual gearbox and automatic transmission (AT) options.

Launch: 21 August

Expected Price:  ₹9.5 lakh to ₹11 lakh

BMW 3 Series

The 3 Series will be a new generation full-sized sedan from the German manufacturer to be introduced in India. Bookings for the car have already started on BMW’s official website and at dealerships. The BMW 3 Series is based on the cluster architecture platform which also underpins the 7 Series and 5 Series. The 3 Series will be available in both diesel and petrol motor options. It is expected to have an improved set of features over the current version.

Launch: 21 August

Expected Price: ₹35 lakh to ₹45 lakh

Kia Seltos

Kia is likely to aggressively price the Seltos to get traction in the hugely competitive Indian midsized sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment. The car will be offered in multiple powertrain combinations. The company has claimed that the Seltos will have a number of segment-first features even for the entry-level model.

Launch: 22 August

Expected Price: ₹10 lakh to ₹17 lakh
